• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Please don't take this the wrong way, as I really like my Spyder Dealer and if I ever buy another one will do so thru them, but don't tell him or he won't negotiate. ;)

So with 6000 miles, I was unable to release the parking break. I got brave and removed the side covers. The cable for the PB was ok and had not slipped off. So like any good shade tree mechanic I broke out the WD40, my weapon of choice and sprayed it down real good. I'll be darned, it worked..

well since I had the covers off I decided to look around with a flash light. Oh poop, there was green liquid on the left side of the lower splash guard and a great deal of oil down there also.

soo I broke out my next best tool, this forum. Water and antifreeze, hummm looks like water pump gasket says the forum gurus ( you know who you are).

Called the dealer and told him what I thought. No says he it is probably a hose clamp. But what about the oil down there says I? Just blow by says he (what is blow by and where does it come from?) So I bring it in. Again I ask if it might be the water pump gasket. No says he, we have done hundreds of these and have never seen a water pump gasket issue.

well they have now, and of course, not having seen any before, they don't have part. I have my fingers crossed that it doesn't take for ever to get them.
I sure am glad it is my wife's bike not mine.

i told him I have a great forum he might want to look at. If you can believe the forums. He told me he has a BRP dealers forum that he uses. I thought to my self had they ever seen a water pump gasket go.. Bite my tongue.

On the positive side, she let me drive it to the dealers.

Just so you understand... It's not a gasket, it's a "mechanical seal" that is failing. The water pump shaft goes from the engine thru a conventional "oil seal" to keep the oil in the engine, then thru the "mechanical seal" to the water pump impeller. The mechanical seal keeps the water in the water pump while allowing the shaft to spin at high speeds in a stationary housing. So you've got a shaft with an oil seal on one end to keep the oil in the engine, and a mechanical seal on the other end to keep the water in the water pump. (Trying to paint a picture in words...) The mechanical seals have to be very carefully mounted on the shaft so BRP ships the water pump shaft and seal as a unit already put together. The part is not expensive but the labor involved to replace it is extensive and some other parts will have to be replaced as well, such as the oil seal, the "seal ring" around the water pump housing (which is like a "gasket"), etc.
