• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hi Guys amd Girls, i am new to site, i have had my rt bought new last August, just completed a 16 day tour of France and now back in blighty with another 2500 miles on clock total 5300. Whilst on holiday it used 750ml of engine oil, is this the norm? but never missed a beat. We were fully loaded and also haul a uk trailer. everyday i had to inflarte the rear suspension is this the norm ?
Any tips from you would be welcome.
Regards.;)

Using Oil

I have a 2012 RTS with 8300 miles and use about 375ml per 1000 miles. I use the BRP Full Synthetic oil.

Teddy did a little search'n and found the following info that may be helpful to you

I am not sure what you mean regarding the rear suspension.
Here in North America the RT ltd has an on board air compressor that takes care of the airbag.
There should be no reason to manually do anything to it.
:agree:

As Roger stated, NO, this is NOT normal. Teddy did a little searching of the Owners Manual and found the following explaining about the ACS (Air Controlled Suspension) You mentioned you have an RT-Limited, and said you got it new in August of last year, so we weren't sure but are guessing that its a 2012 :dontknow:

In the US, our RT-Limiteds come with the ACS as standard equiptment, and looking thru the Owners Manual I would assume the same is true for your country as well. With having ACS, all you should need to do is set the level that is most comfortable for you and your passenger using the ACS switch on your dash cluster.

Hope this helps, and if your system doesn't hold the pressure you set it at, then you most likely have a leak in the system and that should be checked out by your dealer. Good luck  & hope they get it working correctly for you sooner rather than later ;)

ACS Rear Suspension Adjustment(with Remote Adjustment)
Adjustment Guidelines
The rear suspension is calibrated for ageneral riding and will adjust automatically, using an integrated compressor,
while riding to maintain this preset

when the road conditions change or ifthe vehicle load changes (adding a passenger, ridingwithmore cargo etc.).
NOTE:
It is normal to hear pressure releaseor the air compressor operatingwhile engine is running. It indicatesthe suspension is self-adjusting.If the driver desires a softer or a stifferadjustment than the factory setting,he can adjust the rear suspension bypressing the ACS switch in the switchcluster. By changing the ACS setting, air pressure in the air springwill changeto provide a customized suspensionadjustment. The following suspension settings areavailable.

Thanks to everyone for your help and welcome, yes it is a 2012 Ltd but i have a rocker switch as you suggest and this brings up the bar reading on the dash but with little effect. This bike has a Schrader valve under the seat for topping up the air pressure as per the manual,i have never heard air being released when operating the switch and so am guessing the uk model does not have an onboard compressor. Its nearly due 6000 service so i will take up with the dealer. Thanks everyone.

Maybe this could be a change for your country, which I seriously doubt, but I know here in the US, the base model RTs don't have the ACS so they don't have the switch on the dash cluster. If you do have the switch, and it shows a bar graph on your LCD center display when you push the button, then you should have the fully automated ACS system installed, and by hearing the pressure sounds would lead me to think it is working, but most probably has a leak and that is why it is not holding the pressure, which your dealer would need to fix. All RTs have the Schrader valve under the seat, regardless if they have the automated ACS system or not.

:yikes:Thank you so much, after a year of ownership and still waiting for a 2012 owners manual,i tried your suggestions and actually heard the compressor kick in. Feel such a prat, I had a Victory Vision before my Spyder and this had to be pumped up by hand for the rear suspension, i foolishly thought it was the same system, i had called the Dealer but was told just use the rocker switch. IThink i will move to your side of the pond when i retire as you seem to get a lot more for your bucks than dear old tax riddled blighty.once again thanks to all,now i can throw hand pump away.p.s. how do you download a pic to this site.
