• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Passenger love handles

I'm solo meo on the Spyder, so I was wondering if I could dump the love handles for the passenger seat or is it a required structure for other parts to bolt on to?

LOL

When I read that I was thinking the same thing..... either the headlights were shining too high because of the weight on the rear or ............ who cares if the passenger has love handles.... nobody has to hand on to the passenger!? :dontknow:

Actually, there's another post on here somewhere about the handles, apparently someone used the handles to secure their spyder on a trailer and one of them broke..... we've figured out that the handles are only made out of plastic and don't even have any reinforcement to them. They don't need to be there for anything to bolt to, but to get them off you'll have to CUT them off and it will be a permanent thing once you do it.

I don't know about you, but I hardly ever have a passenger, they don't really bother me, and once I used them to tie my luggage to when I rode my spyder from Delaware to Ohio one night as I had the trunk full too.

Wellllll...I already have a seat trunk...:D...with junk in it...so I don't really need the love handles. I don't want to cut them off, I would prefer just to remove them and store them away, but wasn't sure if anything mounted to them or they also served some other structural purpose.

Seems that when I took those off, along with the seat, they were an integral part of the seat mount. I think you would have to cut them off if you don't want them.

Roger, I tried..does not work unless you do some other things that was more complicated than I wanted as I want to put them back on, the girly girly that rides on the back would not have been happy with me.

different handles

What about someone making handles that would be chromed or billet and have a nice black hand grip on each side.

I find mine (on the Spyder, not me) handy for times that I just want to set my helmet down for a short time and don't want to bother opening the trunk, or if the trunk is full. If I partially set the helmet on one of the handles or better yet put the chin strap around a handle it is convenient. I have also tied on other stuff using them.

Not only are the handles a handy place to lock helmets, etc. with a bike cable lock, they are also handy for rolling the Spyder around the garage.

:agree: They keep the helmet from falling to the ground. I've also strapped my nelson rigg luggage on the passenger portion of the seat and needed the handles to do so. But it would be nice if they could go on and come off easily.
