There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Lifts

Harbor Freight sells an ATV/Motorcycle lift as does Sears (Craftsman). There are others as well. I have the Harbor Freight model and find it satisfactory for raising the Spyder. However, recommend not using any lift as a working platform...place the bike on jack stands while working or cleaning it.

how come?

Are lifts dangerous?

Any type of jack can be dangerous. Solid blocking or jackstands to support and stabilize the vehicle after it is lifted are the safe way to go.

I wouldn't trust the Harbor Freight or Sears lifts for use with an RT. Those lifts are rated at 1000 pounds and the RT has a dry weight of 955 lbs. Add a full tank of gas (6.6 gal @ 6 lbs/gal) and a gallon of oil @ 7 lbs and you've got a wet weight of 1001.6 lbs.

The RS has a dry weight of 798 lbs, so a 1000 lb lift would work great. I'm not sure what the dry weight of the ST is, but can't be that much different.

????? My Sears jack has a 1500 pound capacity.

Still looking.
I remember seeing a lift table that had 2 detachable front wheels braces with tie downs. and a removable center plate for working underneath the center of the Spyder, it also had a center support jack on the table. It was wide enough and sturdy to do anything you needed. Now if I can only remember where I seen it. :banghead:

M/C lifts

Scotty has the 1500# Sears and I have an older version of that and also the 1500# HF one. Four 3,000 # jackstands and a couple big old ramps for cars get used sometimes too. My Sears hyd jack for cars can be used with wood blocks to raise the back near the shock. The manual says not to jack directly on the rear shock mount.
Now if I could only get rid of my arthritis and also become several years younger, I could actually use some of this stuff. I use my HF rolling seat to check oil, etc and what ever
"easy" thing needs attention. I have the Diamond R "adapter" for raising the front Spyder wheels (and then blocking them). I haven't used it yet, been too busy riding and doing Grampa things for the little folks who are 2 generations behind me. Or are they in front?? I keep remembering the expression "Insanity is hereditary, you get it from your children, and of course, grandkids!"

Quickter47 your the man :bowdown::bowdown: Perfect!!!! This will work for my AtV Snowmobile and Spyder. Looks like they put a lot of thought into the attachments. Please let me know what you think when you get yours. Thanks, I'll be calling them tomorrow.

There you go...!!

I knew we would come through..I do believe there are some others if you google trike lifts...

Yep I was looking at the Titan XLT I found on line today. Looks like a pretty good lift but the Handy looks like the ticket with all the attachments for Spyder, ATV, an snowmobile. Just found a dealer for them in Spokane an 1 1/2 away. Just found another reason to ride tomorrow.:D

My Harbor Freight jack has a capacity of 1500 pounds. Even so, I use jack stands and would never work under the jack. I use the HF jack more for cleaning wheels than anything else. I usually use an automotive floor jack for lifting the RT to work on it because it is much more controllable than the HF jack. On a related subject, according to my shop manual my 2010 base RT weighs 882 pounds, an RT-AC 911 pounds, and an RT-S weighs 930 pounds. Maybe the later models weigh more, I don't know. Cotton

Keep in mind that those are dry weights...without water, oil, fuel, or cargo. The actual weight can easily exceed 1,000.

Thanks all for your input. quickster47 ordered a Handy lift table which is what I was looking for. http://www.handyindustries.com/produ...ts-accessories. I wanted a high lift table that I could also use on my ATV and Snowmobile. Handy lift has all the attachments to do it all and get them up in the air high enough so your not crawling around on the ground and killing your knees. I was wondering if he had gotten his and what he thought of it before i ordered mine. Spendy but worth the price if the quality of the table is good.
