What is the plug under the seat? Pictures added

I've got all the parts and pieces ordered to mount my GPS in the center of my handlebars. I looked under the seat and see a rubber capped plug. What is that for? It looks like a good power source and it is fused.

What ever you do, do NOT pull that plug! You'll lose all the air in you Spyder and you'll end up with a flattened 'tupperware' blob on your driveway!

if it is the plug going into the passenger seat it is the ABS sensor to tell the system when there is a passenger,DO NOT mess with it.

He described itas "Rubber capped"... that doesn't sound like it would be for the weight sensor in the seat...

I am guessing it's a RT because you posted in the RT section. Other than that we know nothing. But I will make a wild guess it is a power plug for optional equipment that a former owner had. A picture is worth a 1,000 words.

If this is a used Spyder, I might guess a hook up for a battery tender. Ihave one that sounds simlar.
If it is used, he/she might ask the dealer to contact the seller and ask what it is. If it is not factory, who knows. Might have to trace it.

Actually there is a positive terminal under the RT seat with a rubber cap on it. I lost my rubber cap during my ride to SF2013. I would not mess with any of the terminals under the seat though. If you got the BRP mount it should have the wires to run the GPS the right way. Pull the panels on the right side and plug it in where it is supposed to be would be my recommendation.

I'll get a picture, but this is a brand new 2012 RT-S SE5. I've had it 4 weeks (2 weeks of which has been raining) and turned 1000 miles yesterday. I can't find it mentioned in the manual anywhere. It's not the battery terminal. I would call it a "pigtail" with a rubber cap on the end that when removed, exposes 2 male plug terminals. I may put a volt meter on it and see what I get.

I'll get a picture in day or 2,

Sounds like the dealer may have installed a battery tender plug. There are quite a few dealers up this way that do that at time of prep.

All the tender pigtails I have ever seen have one male and one female -- not two males. (Shock prevention purposes.)

Also, do you have the communication package with your Spyder? I am wondering if it isn't an audio cable of sorts to be used when the comm package is installed; whereby it then gets routed under the housing where it would not be seen.

Do not know this for certain, but I have my suspicions...

When I bought my spyder the dealer installed a plug to plug in a battery tender, sounds like what you may have.

I have the same bike a 2012 se5 RT and their is a Red capped positive terminal under the seat on the left side if sitting on the bike and on the right side their is a ground bolt I connected my heated vest and air horn to it and its been fine so that's what it is but be careful not to short a arch if your gonna use the red terminal and loosen it up with a metal wrench or socket it comes off just go slow and good luck hope this helps Rich oooops that's different then the one I have ??

My 2012 RTL has a battery tender hookup under the seat. I wasn't sure what it was for but when I had the panels off to check the battery connections I followed the wires and they hook up to the battery.

It doesn't sound to be a stock option that comes on the RTs, but as many others have posted, many dealers will go ahead and install a pig-tail for battery tenders when their originally setting up a Spyder and this may very well be the case for you. Asking your dealer, or the tech that did the set-up would probably give you the answer that you seek

As mentioned by others your photographs look exactly like the pigtail I installed for my battery tender. If so, not a good source for power. Mine is fused at .5 amps so won't carry much of a load.
