• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Preaching the Spyder Gospel to Two Wheeled Sinners who want to believe!

A bud, my wife, and I rode to the "Guinness World Record attempt for biggest poker run" at a motorcycle dealer in Pineville, NC yesterday. The event was fun, but the record is NO danger of being broken, trust me. But we ran into some fun people.

Three of them were some tatted up, gnarly looking, good ole boys in "motorcycle club cuts" from a group called the Pub Runners. One of them was interested in a Spyder, sat on it, asked a ton of questions and I gave him my best pro-Spyder pitch about all the benefits and was honest about the downsides (no leaning the bike into turns, etc). At first, his buds said that he needed to step away, or all the rest of the guys would ridicule him to death. By the end of my little back yard sales pitch, they were then saying how a bike like this could get them into real trouble. (With traffic laws. Drinking while driving. More traffic laws.) All three of them started eyeing the thing with more interest. By the time I told them about the vehicle stability system, reverse, the ABS, the frunk, and giddy-up mine has from a stop light, the first guy wanted to take one for a test ride. His buddies quit talking about how much fun they would make of him and started checking it out with a more calculating eye. And let me tell you, these are not your dentists-during-the-week riders.

Did I convert a sinner to the Light Side? Probably not... yesterday. But the seed was planted and three guys that would normally laugh at a Spyder are now convinced it is the real deal and will probably tell others.

At the very least, the Spyder and I made three new buds.

My wife and I were having breakfast at the crowded local restaurant this morning when four bikers came in and stood near us as they waited for a table to clear for them. We didn't see their rides but the leathers and tats made the identities pretty clear.

One of the ladies had a biker shirt on so I asked her what she rode. "Up until last week it was a Harley Ultra", she said..." but now it is totaled." We talked a bit about her accident and how lucky she was to come out with a few scrapes and bruises. Apparently some one ran her off into a ditch and took off.

We talked about her next bike and they all wanted to know more about Spyders and seemed very up beat and complementary about them... as one said..."as long as you're in the wind, it doesn't matter what you ride."

However she has her heart set on a new Harley Slim and once the insurance settlement is complete that is her next stop.

More power to her and all who ride.

I think that you will that folks who really ride and love motorcycles actually will be more receptive to new innovative designs even if they are not going to jump right up and buy one. Whether they are members of a three patch club, tattooed etc does not matter, only that we are riding in the wind together. It's the wanna-bees that have the biggest mouths and attitudes.

Individuality

I get a bit of a kick from the Harley TV ads that say something about "being an individual... different from the rest" and then they encourage everyone to go out and buy the same bike everyone else has!

When one of my new 'MC' pals asked about taking any grief from anyone, I looked him in the eye and said "If I gave a crap about what anyone else thought would I be in this (physical) shape?" He looked at my waistline. Looked at the Spyder. Looked at his tats and laughed out loud. "You got a point there!" I think THAT was when they looked at my Spyder a little differently.

I don't care what anyone rides. I like being different. That's the reason I bought a Spyder. I am just glad these guys were open minded enough to realize that Freedom to be an Individual has nothing to do with the brand name and is all about a mind set.

Wife and I both ride on 3

She has a new 2013 Ural Tourist that I've been allowed to drive exactly twice since she got it in April. When we're out together we get a lot of questions about both machines, but I think lately she has been getting most of the attention. A lot of the 2 wheel drivers and a lot of the cage drivers we come across get really interested in her Russian iron. Most seem to like the retro look and the price and a lot of the ladies think the side car would make for a comfortable ride. The Bug and I just ride along and enjoy the company, as someone said it's not what you ride it's that you ride .

Ride safe,

Don't judge what anyone else does and hope to be treated the same. I'm just glad that I have the best ride for me!:doorag:

I find most riders are cordial and friendly

you get the occasional 'you're riding a trike because you're too old to ride anything else', to which I normally respond (and which is the truth) "no, I ride a trike cause I can no longer support a 2 wheeler', and that is the extent I go in the conversation - at that point, they either get a small light in their eye and realize that may be the case for them some day, or, they are a 20 year old on a crotch rocket just looking for their next accident............
