• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Okay, all you road wise riders need some good tips. Have a rain suit, not sure which jacket for warm weather riding. Help. Be gentle as I stated this will be my first long ride and want it to be a good one.

First tip. Search 'road trip' on here. There have been several threads posted on this exact topic before, unless Lamont has cleaned up the old threads and deleted them.

Water and plenty of it always drink at least a 12oz bottle at every gas stop especially in warm to hot weather.
Warm Clothes
Some tools and tire patch with inflater.
Sun screen
aspern
first aid kit
fuses and relays
get a coleman gas container or simular ( 14-16 oz ), fill with gasoline for emergency.
Flashlight
cell phone

RE: Jacket. I recommend a textile or leather jacket with a removable liner and zip open vents. You are then ready for most temperature changes you will encounter. Firstgear is good textile.

EDIT: I missed your part about warm weather recommendations. My Bad. Mesh gear is recommended for that.

My wife has a Joe Rocket Ballistic jacket and matching pants. They also are made for men. She loves them , they have to be the swiss army knife of motorcycle gear. The jacket has 2 liners one for cold weather and one for wet weather. When it gets hot you can zip off the panels to reveal a mesh riding jacket and the same goes for the pants. My next jacket will be this one.

Do you have a trailer, or just using the side/front/back storage compartments? This info will help with the replies, as to how much to carry with you.

Teddy & I enjoyed meeting you today at Middletown

Good luck on your trip  we gave you our suggestions, but also look into the Utopia backrest or similar if you don't already have one:thumbup: helps a lot on long trips ;)

Thanks for the input. Made the change to instrument panel already. Ordered a mesh jacket and the deflectors. :yes:Getting so pumped about this trip.

safe ride - take your time and smell the roses

rain gear, 2 pairs of everything (1 pair set in zip lock bags or something similar)

you might also want to bring some base layer stuff - it works well in both cold and hot envrons
