N43E Trilogy on closeout

I was about to order an N43 Trilogy from that helmet website when I noticed they have them on closeout now. No price drop so that leads me to believe that there is a new model coming out or they are discontinuing them.

My wife and I bought CanAm ST3's and they are ok, but at 60+ the helmet really buffetts alot in the wind, enough to mess with my vision. My shoei does not. Also the visor is not opitcally clear, so that does not help either. (Yes I took the plastic off )
So that lead me to wanting a good 3/4. What I need is cooling... So does the Nolan have good venting...

I intend to use a Sena SMH10, so I am foregoing the Nolan for now (only for that reason - otherwise I've heard all good things about them).

Huh! I must have not read that memo! I installed the SMH10 with boom mic and headset on my wife's with no issue. We ended up changing it to the boom mic and ear bud configuration a couple of months ago for better audio and still no issues.

I have the Sena's installed on mine and wifey's Nolan Modular and they work great! I didn't get that memo either!:dontknow:

If you like the fit of a full face Shoei they now have a great 3/4 called the J Cruiser. It has an optical clear internal sun visor, great ventilation and solid construction. I just got one to replace my old 3/4 HJC and it is worlds a part in fit and comfort. I installed a SENA 10 with no issues.

i was also dissappointed when i tried to put my qwest on my head with ear buds in. ouch... so i dont know the solution here.
so are the earbuds comfortable at speed and over trip length use?

Speaker placement is absolutely critical. They have to sit super close to your ears and aligned with your ear canal to sound decent at all. We changed to the buds, because we were putting in ear plugs and losing any benefit for quality anyway. The comfort of the ear buds really depends on two things. Are they comfortable and noise isolating without a helmet? Do they protrude out from your ear or relatively flat? If they are not flat, your helmet will knock them out while trying to gear up, so they become a huge hassle.

I've been using the old style SkullCandy Ink'd ear buds with ear molds purchased from Amazon. They work great, but tried the new and improved Ink'd version and they don't clear my helmet and pop off every time. Any in helmet audio will take a fair amount of trial and error to get right.

Since I already have a set with the speakers, I think I will order a earbud set and try it out. right now, the only earbuds I can wear for any length are the new Apple ones, but they stick out too far I believe as my qwest yanked them out of my ears while removing it.

And SENA explain to me why you have a universal mount for the microphone with boom and wired mics, but the speakers are not removable to allow headphones?

THis seems really illogical. You should not have to change your whole harness to use head phones.

I have two of the N43 helmets in addition to a pair of Nolan full face. I have one Sena mounted on the N103 and one on the N43. No problem with mounting or reception. akspyderlady just has to make sure the mike is inside the face plate. :roflblack:

Have 2 Nolan Trilogy and use them all the time for the past year and a half. They're adaptable, vent well, both face shield and drop down sun visor are optically clear. I use their N-Com - bluetooth for everything. Audio is great regardless of helmet configuration or connected device(s). Love em!

I have a Sena SMH10 with my Qwest and the ear speakers sound just fine, but counterintuitively it sounds *much better* with my foam earplugs in than without (w/o, the Sena sound is tinny and can't compete with the wind/engine, but the plugs dampen the bad noise and let the music go through perfectly, albeit not as loud as earbuds would sound).

Two pieces of advice:

1. Download the latest firmware from Sena-- last year they updated it to include a bump up in the standard volume.

2. If you'd like, Autocom sells little velcro pads that help bridge the gap between your helmet and your ear, bringing the speakers in a little closer to your ears. I personally don't need them on my Qwest, but they may help you out.

My wife and I have used the N-Com system with our N43's and could not be happier. Even after being Baptized at the Owners Event..No Loss of voice quality or functionality. One Blutetooth Kit 3 in Mine and a basic kit 2 in hers. We just plug in and they run for 10+ hours. If I can keep her from talkin' too much...shhhhhhh! If the phone rings, it cuts off intercom and after call is ended, switches back to intercom.

N43 is a great helmet and I think their N-COM system is good but also over-priced just like all the other manufacturers Bluetooth devices. Why so EXPENSIVE ??? Because We Ride! Because We Need It! Because We Will Pay For It!!!

I talked to keith at CIMA (Nolan). they are coming out with the new N-44 some time this summer. It has improved ventilation.I love my N-43 but will probably get the 44 when it comes out.

Left this under miscellaneous but it should have been here: 'nother question - when the chinbar is installed and the shield is fully down on the Nolan Trilogy, for those of you who have one, is there a good seal?? I'm thinking of winter riding with my Schuberth modular and the total lack of cold air coming into the helmet when the shield is down. Thoughts and experience please.. Thanks.
