I had trouble at first too, had to take a knife to them to make them fit properly. Nobody sees them except for the lower inch or so.

I installed mine on the 2010 with the help of a friend, and Harvey installed it on the 2013. What makes it easy is to lift it because you need a GOOD view of the area. Also, if I recall correctly, you need to loosen (not remove) a bolt or a screw. Wish I can give you more information, but they are a little of a PITA to install. Good luck!

I purchased a set but never figured them out either :banghead: Might revisit putting them on now that I'm a bit more experienced with the :spyder2:. An install video would be nice for those who need a visual aid ray:

Are you talking about the Cat shields? If so, you need to loosen one screw in the front to tuck it behind. The rest of it is held on with plastic plugs that push into existing holes on the back side of the casting.

Heat shields

Remove bottom screw from front pegs. Take clip off of front brake linkage and let it drop down. Put front hole in shield where you removed screw insert screw back in don't tighten yet. Push plastic pins into holes in shield raise shield and insert pins in holds that are in frame. Hook brake linkage back up. Now left side if it's a se5 do the same as right except no brake or linkage to worry about.If it's a sm5 slide front end of shield through shift lever then turn sheld up then put screw in then plastic pins raise shield up put pins in holds in frame tighten screws up. Hope this helps.

yea, it took me a few days of pondering on how they fit and unfortunately it was a few months ago that I did it, so I can remember what finally made it POP in my head as to how they slip under but they do........

I've got them in place... and my Brakelights are doing a nice job of lighting up the darkness! :yikes:
I've posted in the General Discussion Area to try and get more eyes on the problem...

if you are referring to the brake lights remain on and you have to tap the pedal to get them off..... yea...... lol.... I think I have to take an exacto knife out.....

I removed it... The brake lights are still signaling my impending demise...
The only other part under there that I monkeyed with, was the brake rod...
How can you mess that one up?

that is weird...... if you removed the shield and reconnected the spring, etc, then I am stumped and its 9pm and I dont feel like going out in the garage and crawling under my Spyder

I will take a look tomorrow and see if I can figure anything out
