• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Claim made that the stock cap didn't fit and seal the filler tube properly so owners smelled raw gas at times, especially after turning off the engine in a confined space - - garage. The cap should have been sent to the original owner. I would contact him or her to get the replacement cap and then use it. If that owner doesn't have the replacement cap then I would contact BRP about getting one.

I have the replacement and STILL smell gas when I park in the garage, every time. It's not faint either, more like an overpowering-smell gas in my livingroom kinda deal....

Gas cap

There are probably two thousand post on this subject since six months ago. Yes you should have one. But you do not need to make a special effort to run right down to your dealer first thing in the morning.

New canister, new purge valve, new cap and can smell fuel fumes when stopped at light, or stop sign. About the only thing you can do is park outside for a half hour plus before garaging it.
:dontknow:

Jerbear's post #4 gives all the technical reasons and information as to how to get the gas cap. I also recommend it.

The gas smell issue has seemed to persist on some vehicles even with the gas cap and new evap cannisters, etc. I for one, do not have an answer to solve that ongoing problem.

im in the same situation here, with the old cap I had no problems but I did install the new cap that was sent out to me. Now the smell of gas is way over powering my garage and we have a bed room just above that. I am going to talk to the dealer and see if there is some kind of fix for this, this is not right and can be very very dangerous. I should have never thrown out the old cap:banghead::banghead:

Change it or not; the choice is yours...
I had no issues with the original cap, but it got sent to the bottom of the recycling bin once the new once was in place!
(Thanks to Lamonster's great gas cap installaion video! :roflblack:)
