• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyder 3D Printable Models

I could be wrong but I think these are just 3d files of the spyder for computer rendering. Not an actual 3d printed version. Don't know what it would take to convert the files to work with a 3d printer

You are correct they are 3-D computer models. To convert them to print on a 3-D printer you need a CAM program that can generate the G code your 3-D printer understands.

I'm starting to think that Christmas is gonna be REAL interesting this year! :2thumbs:

WOW, you could soon become a Spyderlovers Sponsor, offering custom-made models of each owner's own machine. Neat!

Well not so fast "Spyderlover"! It can be machined out of any material but to get detail out of it may have to be a metal alloy, that mean no color unless you want to pay an artist to paint it. If it was a plastic material it would be all in color, everthing, tires, windscreen etc. Also I would guess each one off would cost $$$$ just for material and machine time with no profit. I will ask him what his opinion is any way as he is a lot more clever than I am and get back to you all.

why does everything have to have a G code, this makes it so hard to find...

Yeah, that is for sure just the price for the files. It also sounds like each part ends up printed separately, so you can change parts, paint them ,etc. after printing on your own 3D printer.

Wave of the future.....

And I am sitting 30 feet away from a 3-D printer... but I am not forking over $100 and then trying to talk my boss into letting me burn the raw materials.

Here I was thinking that the entire process was the product of a kid that I went to college with in the seventies... :roflblack:
Between this and the G-Spot posts; I'm ready to put some Jimi Hendrix on the Hi-Fi...
