0-60 and quater mile times.

The Spyder times seem to be accurate. No quarter mile time for the RS.:dontknow:

Harley's times are faster than I thought they would be.

I guess my Plymouth 'Cuda wasn't as fast as I thought it was. I never had it timed on a strip, I just street raced. Regardless of official or perceived elapsed times, there weren't many that could take me. The late 60's through the 70's, what a memorable time in my life that was, what I can remember.

Thanks for posting - that is some interesting stuff. Had no idea how fast some of the fastest bikes really were!

I've made 1/4 mile runs allot of times over the years and though I've not ever run a Spyder RT I have to say I feel like it would run a far better time than the 17+ seconds they listed it at. Now I know it wasn't built for speed but it sure seems to get out of its way allot better than that. Anyone here ever put one on the track?

That time for the RT seems to be off. I know some of the stock RT's that raced did better than that. My STS that only had the exhaust did 14.60 at the drags at Spyderfest.

interesting- veeeerrryyyy interesting!:roflblack: I thought 4 seconds on the rss was good, but some of those bikes at 2.6 etc,----now that would even be better!

Yeesh, that RS vs. RT comparison ain't at all flattering to the RT. ;)

I need to time my RS since I switched out the intake, added the fuel controller, exhaust, etc. I'm not certain it added THAT much speed, but mine definitely feels quicker off the line than it was when stock.

You wouldn't compare a Camaro to a Cadillac at the drag strip, and that probably should go for the RS to the RT, too. A touring motorcycle is not a speed demon...no matter how you slice it.

RT I/4 MILE TIME ? ?

At Spyderfest I was running some Mid 14's in the 1/4 with my girlfriends stock 2012 RT so the I find the time listed in your LIST a little ODD .....My Spyder was NOT the fastest either......I don't know what the WINNER Posted ? ? ?......Mike :dontknow:....:gaah:

Looks like GL1800's run in the mid 12's, that's pretty fast for a couch on wheels with a stereo.

Mine's just for riding to the track to watch the fun! :roflblack:

Hee hee! When I was driving dragsters, we would kid the door slammers about trying to go racing with their tow vehicles. It's all in good fun.

Fair enough, Scotty. I'm just always surprised however that the same engine can behave so differently with a different RPM band, aerodynamics, weight, etc.

I'm not someone desperate for more speed and power, nor do I expect BRP to offer a more powerful engine anytime soon, if ever (although there *are* even better Rotax options out there, so one could always dream!).

I just know that after two years on the RS, switching to an RT might be a challenge for me. Yeah, I want the touring comfort and versatility, but I really do love how my RS is setup now, it's finally "dialed in" this year to precisely how I always wanted it.

Maybe I'll just convince the GF to get the RT, and she can cart my bum around the country when we want to go two-up? :2thumbs:

The fjr blended the two fairly decently.

Your time on the RT actually sounds more like how the bike feels. It's been a few years since I've run anything down the track, but the 0-60 and quarter mile times listed are almost identical to my old 97 Camry V6! Seriously? One of those times is highly inacurate, but I can pretty much guarantee my old Camry was nowhere near keeping up with the RT.

I'm be no means saying the RT or any Spyder should be compared to a Sport bike or even another bike of any kind. What I am saying is that the listed times in that report seem way off to me. I was curious to know what real people who may have tried their Spyder on a timed track would have gotten in a 1/4 mile run. 17+ seconds is IMO way off. I'm willing to bet that any one of us given the chance to run a timed run would beat that by several seconds.

No it's not a Sport bike but if you really open one up, the seat of the pants feel will tell you it's allot faster than what they posted. My '71 Charger RT runs mid 12's. (I know, apple and oranges) The ST-L I had didn't feel that fast but I would guess it would run high 13's, low 14's. A Spyder should be in the high 14's easy.

BTW, I think Can-Am should put out a Factory performance model that could run with some of those Sport bikes. I know they could and they should. Would be cool to have a model out there that can shut down and shut up some of those cocky Sport bike & Harley Guys....:2thumbs:

I came upon this website while looking for something else yesterday. I thought it was worth sharing so I posted it on Spyderlovers.

Now that I've had some time to look it over I too feel not all of these times are close to being accurate.

Case in point. A Harley Sportster 1200 Custom in no way shape or form can turn a quicker 0-60 time than my Spyder. I had a '05 1200 Sportster with straight pipes and the Screaming Eagle carb kit, it was definitely not as quick as the Spyder.

HOW IT FEELS ? ? ? ? ....NOT

M.L.C.-----I have the time slips from the track OFFICIALS......But yes it did feel like it ran that FAST also....:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: :agree:.....Mike
