• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

After a month with my Russell Day Long Seat..

I have decided that I just love it!!! I had to ride it with just my jeans and not my whole Thermosuit to truly get the feel for how the seat fits me. I have had it on a number of short rides and one hour long ride. I am very excited to take some longer trips when the weather permits.

I have finally put my finger on what is so different about the seat for me. With my stock spyder seat, I sat ON the seat. With my Russell, I sit IN the seat. I am not sure if that makes sense to anyone, but that is the only way I can think to explain it. It is not too soft or too hard and it supports my whole bottom end so there is not pressure on my tail bone. I give my new seat a big:2thumbs::2thumbs:

any pictures???

Yep, I posted in my mods and one other thread but for you tatt2r here they are again.

You will find that your Day Long just gets better and better each time you use it. I have used them for years and the Day Long is absolutely the best. IMHO it is head and shoulders over the Corbin seat.

If you don't mind me asking, where does one get one, and what price range are we talking? Looks great - nice Spyder:2thumbs:

I am not sure if you can still get in on the group buy or not. Go to their web site http://www.day-long.com/ and look up the contact number and call Heather. Ask her if it is too late to get into the group buy. Everyone that ordered got 20% off the prices listed on the web site. Those prices vary depending on the material you order. You do have to send them your seat pan and they custom make the seat for your seating position and height and weight. I think I payed $540.00 which included shipping for my seat which is the small diamond pattern with leather inserts and a rain cover. I hope that helps. They are located in California.

Plus $60 we paid UPS to ship the seat to them originally? Closer to $600 total? :dontknow:

I am hoping to get my Russell seat in a week or two. Its been two weeks since I shipped it and they said about two weeks for the reworking of the stock Spyder seat.

Regarding the group buy, it is almost a month past the cutoff date for the group buy so I wouldn't be too hopeful of getting it but you never know. It was originally supposed to go through the first part of December but they changed the end date to the first week in November.

There was a fair amount of discussion about these seats (3 pages worth) in the Spyder ShopTalk threads over the past 3 months. Here is the thread.

looks great I like it do you know if it will work with a BRP backrest:thumbup:

I don't know for sure, but I don't know why not since the BRP backrest is attached to the back piece of the spyder not the seat itself.
They use the seat pan right off your spyder and that plastic piece goes right back on after you install your new seat.

I agree about sitting "on" the Spyder. After riding metric cruisers for many years, riding the Spyder is more like sitting on a horse saddle.
Thinking about the Russell.
