• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Windshield question

hi everyone!

i just got the spyder 2 days ago, and i already put 300 miles on it... what a blast!!!
i realized that i must have a better wind protection (especially for hwy riding)...
my question is this:

what would be the best windshield height for a 5.4" high body... i would like to be able to see just above the windshield...

thanks to all for a great forum, and the tons of useful information you put here!

cd.

you just opened up a bag of worms......:coffee::D:D:D
Yeah, and a nest of snakes, too. :) Read some of the old posts here, and look at the pictures. Just search "windshield". In the end, it is a very personal choice. Still a couple of windshields left to come, too. The CHAD is just starting to ship, so no reviews yet, and the BRP Super Touring isn't due until April.

sorry!... consider the bag closed!
thanks, cd.
Aw c'mon, don't chicken out that easy. We're just poking fun at you because the question has arisen a lot before. Besides, Tatt2r is a notorious windshild hater. LOL Seriously, there is bound to be an old post by somebody here that is about your height. The difficulty is that so many things influence how the windshield works. Where you sit in the seat, the proportions of your body (ie. long or short upper body), and whether or not you have handlebar risers (and what height). You can find the answers here, but they are not concrete answers for you. In the end, you may just have to take a chance. The windshield manufacturers will recommend a size, but it may not work well for you, personally.

thanks scotty... no hard feelings, believe me!
have a great day!

I have the BRP touring but am definitely awaiting to hear about the CHAD and the BRP utra-touring...

In the colder regions of the country, our needs are a little different...you're in da south so you don't have to worry about freezing temps and lotsa wind!

Either way, there are plenty of options are there are more every month or two...

Wait to see how everyone likes/dislikes the CHAD...that's likely the way I'll go being it's adjustable...great for hot and cold weather!

There really are a lot of choices in windshields for the Spyder. And, that is a very good thing. Everyone has their own opinions - likes and dislikes.
Some folks like greater wind protection. Some don't. I'm actually downsizing in that department. I'm 6'4". And, the stock windshield is great. In higher winds on the interstate running 70+, it's a bit more to contend with. But, I like it. I'm actually going to buy the BRP UltraSport blacked out 'V' cut windshield.

Also; I wear a full face (modular) helmet. And, that makes a difference.
