Spyder "buzzing" for up to 1 hour after shut down

Hi all - Been a member here for about a month and just brought my wife's 2012 RT home a couple of days ago. We rode it about 185 miles the first day and there is a definite learning curve!

Upon parking it in our garage and shutting it down I noticed a buzzing sound coming from the unit, kind of reminds me of the sound that Ford fuel pumps often make. It lasts for about 45 minutes. I duplicated the symptom several times just by turning the ignition on and off. Called the dealer and one of their techs told me it is normal and is the computer throttle body venturi being held open to allow heat escape from the engine? Said it alleviates warm start issues?

Since I have never read anything about this in all the research I did and it is certainly not the norm with anything I have ever owned I figured to bounce it off the forum members. Anyone else notice this?

That's normal; it's got to do with the throttle boides being held shut by some little electronic wizardry that was cooked up by BRP... :thumbup:

Like Mr. Bob says, Normal. Lot of questions on that , It's just one of the weird and wacky things Can Am does to to correct a engineering problem. hyea:

100 % completely normal. Dealers should tell buyers this. You only notice it in a quiet garage.

It freaked me out the 1st time I heard it as well.
Annoying yes... a problem no.

Normal...will vary with weather, heat etc but you will hear it regularly..not to worry even when passerby's tell you your bike is buzzing...!!:roflblack:

Nope, not seconds, minutes. Again dealer mechanic says it is normal, has to do with heat management according to him for warm starts.

I must have missed it in the manual but I did look it over. Will look again when I get a chance.

It is in the manual, have to turn the page after it refers to stopping the vehicle. There is a paragraph that starts out "All Models", and it is in there.

Seems like this may be something the sales person should go over when explaining the machine since it is unusual. Anyway it is normal.

The glove box latch failed already, and no we were not jamming anything in it. Just looking to see what kind of items we should store in it. Opened fine but will not latch upon closing...

What you are hearing is probably the fan running after sutdown. The throttle body positioner noise is there for 40 minutes, you likely just do't hear it. Only the 2010s don't make the sound.

It's my understanding it has something to do with the starter. It puts less stress on the starter if you start it up again within the 45 min period. I believe it's is in the Owner's Manual.

Yeah, I just read the online manual and it says "High Pitched " sound you could hear in a quiet environment!!
I don,t call turning on The Garage sound system while I clean the Spyders a quiet environment? :roflblack:
