Air Deflectors

It is getting hot in New Mexico and I want to ride as much as possible. I am interested in air deflectors to help keep engine heat off and try to stay as cool as possible. What do you recommend for air deflection to help cool the driver ( I rarely ride with a passenger)? I see information on Baker air wings and BRP adjustable deflectors but I am not familiar with either or if there are other options. Thanks in advance for any advise.

Two thumbs up for the Baker Air Wings. I installed these several years ago and they do provide a great deal of extra air flow for the driver.

I also recently installed a vent in the windshield, but haven't experienced warm temperatures to comment.

Quite a few people remove their lower wind deflector for the hot months and have commented that the increase in air flow to the torso is significant.

Hope this helps.

I use the Air Wings and they do make quite a difference. There is the added benefit of the bracket holding the side panel on. I saw the new deflectors on a 2013 at a demo ride and they look like they would also some air around your chest area.

Baker Airwings  I've had mine over a year and they work great! Direct air on you when it's hot or close them up when it's cooler or raining and it shields you from the cool air or rain. If you're attending SpyderFest, they're supposed to be there. I also like them because they attach to the small panel that some people say has blown off! With the Baker Airwings that can't happen....

Bakers are a great option, but BRP's latest offering also holds promise... and you could still fit a full cover over the bike if you have to!

:agree: I installed BRP's deflectors and I have to say they work for me! It was getting warm on the way back from Little Rock so I flapped them open and it made a big difference!:2thumbs: Highly recommend!!:2thumbs:

Thanks for all the information, I will have to decide which deflectors to go with. Sounds like the air wings are very popular.

I'm going with the BRP adjustable wind deflectors... I just have to add them to the list my wife gave me this morning to order from BRP.

The new adjustable wings from BRP are Great, easy to install, relatively cheap, look good, did I mention that I like them

while riding this weekend i adjusted the wings and a couple of seconds later my wife tells me that the temperature has suddenly dropped and she is a little cool now, THEY WORK.

So with the Baker wings you can't use your full cover? I never thought of that. I'm leaning toward getting the vented windshield. Tried removing the side deflectors last year but really couldn't feel any difference. I guess when it is over 100 nothing really helps except maybe air conditioning.

I have bake wings and use full and half cover with no trouble at all. Fits good ....recheck how you put it on cover that is and will fit great, Gary has mine bike and fits good.

We have Baker wings on both our RT's and the covers fit over those with no trouble. You do have to swing them in a bit but they are adjustable and that is the big advantage of these.

Just added the new BRP adjustable air wings and am very happy with the way they look and work. Even if they work, I've never been a fan of the way the Bakers look when installed on the Spyder. I for one am glad BRP came out with something that looks like it belongs on the Spyder.

Mine are on the way and if it makes the wife happy we are happy!

NOTE: My caveat about the full cover fitting was more precautionary than actual. The full cover fits pretty tight, and I just wanted folks to be aware of that fact before they jumped without taking a closer look... :opps:

Get everything you can based on where you live. I'm down in Florida and i've got the air wings, the deflectors and i also did a vent in the sport windscreen. I've got about as much airflow on me as if I were riding a Sportster.
