I drove semi trucks for a number of years and have always been amased at how a load can dance if all angles are not covered. I would bet that on a bumpy road if the back was not tied down it could jump and move side to side with just having the front end secure. I have seen some strange things happen.Might have more to do with tire flex and it's ability to rotate the tires slightly on their axis. However, from the geometric end it's the angles. The obtuse angle on the left is longer from the pivot axis to the end of the tire. The acute angle on the right is shorter from the pivot axis to the end of the tire. This allows for the slight axis angle change.
Like I said, the angles are small, but by the time that slight angle change reaches the back of the swing arm, you can have noticeable rear movement.
Also, and probably a bigger concern is the stress the back end as a "lever" can put on those front mounts.
It doesn't take much....tie down the back.

Just wondering where the
best place to tie it down would be using the SuperClamp, but having floorboards?
...and pull the Spyder forward keeping the front tires pressing agains the chocks.I asked the same question when I got mine. They will fit around the rear floorboards instead.
What do you mean ??????? All cool people trailer the Spyder !!!!!!
I have Super Clamps in my Look trailer. Greatest thing since canned Beer. No groveling around on the floor to get straps through the wheels etc.
Lamont did not follow Super Clamps instruction. The tie down points (2) are 12 inches forward and 4 inches out from the rear passenger pegs or floorboards. This is to keep the Spyder pulled forward into the clamps and to prevent side movement or too much spring in the rear.
Simply drive onto the clamps and attach the two short ratchet straps. from a standing position. That's it.
I used E track for rear tie down because I have a Condor M/C chock in the middle and use the E track for different M/C.![]()

Thanks for the pic. I was thinking of putting some e tracks in to increase the versatility of the trailer. Will have to push that project a little higher on my list.
Will you have anybody at spyder quest in September at lake George ny. Might be a good place to demo the system. I showed wife the video and she is very interested. If some of you are doubting this system, please go and watch how the Spyder tie down system works in the video on the website www.superclamp.net once your front tires are secured into the chock and the tied down with TWO special ratchet straps ,, your spyder does not move an inch side to side, forward or back ward, up or down. We at Superclamp would not have developed any product that would damage your ride, we all ride too. As for the price , you now can order Factory Direct and the New price now is $389.95 plus shipping and handling. If you have any technical question please call us and we can answer them for you. 1-403-203-2210
