2013 RT Suspension

I was at the dealer yesterday and was looking at a 2013 and a 2012 RT parked side-by-side.

That's when I noticed the 2013 has lost the adjustable front shock we have on 2010-2012 models.

I must have been sleeping through the various announcements and descriptions, 'caus that was news to me. Even a quick forum search did not return anything, although I am sure someone else must have posted something.

'Just thought I would share with everyone who might have also missed it on the forum. I guess Elkas and others are not going out of business after the 2013 suspension re-work.

Ben i guess u missed the posts about the 2013 shocks most have gone with either elkas or even the 2011 or 12 RT shocks for better ride also Rons sway bar will be comming out for the 2013 modles soon stay tuned.

Hi Ben... (Or is it "Mr. Van Winkle"? ) The new suspension design for 2013 is pretty sensitive to ride height... it affects where the wheels are pointed. :shocked: As everybody learns more about the design; you can bet that there'll be stuff coming from the aftermarket to improve the breed. :thumbup: BajaRon is already working on an Anti-SwayBar for the new models, and We've heard from the good folks at Elka that they are also working on the new setup...

Happy with 2013 non adjustable shocks

I know that handling/cornering is a very personal thing and everyone has their own preferences. As for me, I really like the factory shocks on my 2013 RT Limited. True, they are non adjustable, but I can't think of how I'd want to change them, even if I could.

It's ride can best be described as "plush, but tight and controlled." It dosen't exhibit any shock "jounce" (bouncy - bouncy through bumps) and stays composed on all kinds of pavements.

I'll also admit that I don't push my machine to it's limits. My "see how fast you can go around the corner" days are behind me. I prefer a comfortable but controlled ride, and that's exactly what my 2013 gives me.

I wouldn't doubt that Elka will come up with an improved 2013 shock soon. But, for me, I'd have to measure the marginally better handling for the bucks laid out.

Just one old guys opinion.

We will have a 2013 Spyder in the R&D lab tomorrow, so I will keep you updated ( with pictures of course as promised).
