• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

IPOD TOUCH PROBLEM

I know this has been asked before. I have the cable that has the box built in. I have a 2011 rts and have tried 1st gen 3rd and 4th gen plus an ipod nano. The bike just recognizes them as aux, has any one got any suggestions on what I can do to make it show up as an I pod ??

Sounds like you may have a faulty cable or connection. It should switch to "iPod" automatically if in aux mode. Try rebooting the iPod while connected, or restarrting the Spyder after start the iPod.

I tried adding a 7th Gen Nano with the lightening to 30 pin adapter, it didn't work. Swapped my Nano with my son for his 4th Gen iTouch and it worked first time. I assume you are using the 30 pin connector and not the MP3 adapter? When you plug in your iTouch does the display on the iTouch show that it is charging? Thanks!

yea.... there is a problem getting any iDevice with a Lightning connector to be recognized onboard..... i think its just that no one has the pin outs correct on the adapters

Yes it shows it is charging and yes I am using the BRP I pod cable I do not know what this Lightning connector is?

Lightning connector is the new smaller connector

up until the previous versions of iDevices they used the larger flat 30 pin connector - the new iDevices use the much smaller Lightning connector 220px-Lightning_connector.jpg

none of the companies (including apple) that make the Lightning to 30 pin connectors work on the Spyder indicating there is a wiring problem in the adapters (wink wink nudge nudge to all you home brew developers.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightning_(connector))

ACE 2002,

Let me try a few things with my iTouch and my wifes iphone and see if I can find anything. If your unit is charging then it sounds like Spyder should see the iTouch as an iPod. I will let you know.

Also be sure your cable is securely latched (both sides of connector) in the iPod. If you have a case, often one side or the other will not quite latch. The iPod still plays, but the Spyder won't recognize it.

I do not have a case but I have checked and it is seated all the way and is charging.

In that case, revert to the original advice and see your dealer. When you do, take the iPod to test it on another Spyder, then show it does not work on yours.
