• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Contour Camera Mount

Today I actually was able to find some time and mount my Contour HD Camera. I did not want this to be permanent yet wanted it to be stable. This is what I came up with:

All of the parts are from Ram Mounts.

RAM-B-259U RAM 1" X 1" U-CHANNEL CLAMP W/ 1" BALL
RAM-B-202AU UNPKD RAM BASE W/ 1/4"-20 STST STUD
RAP-B-200-12U UNPKD RAM VARIABLE SWIVEL ARM

The video is stable. I will post a link as soon as I upload it.

looks great. :thumbup:Hope there wont b a glare off the windshield if the sun hits it right.

Action Camera

Did you try to watch the video?

I was trying an install similar to this and got too much shaking of the camera. I moved the camera to my helmet, I don't like it on the helmet to much since I don't see if the remote control started the recording or not.

I am still looking for a good location in front if me.

I fully agree. it did not matter where on my spyder I mounted my camera, there was always too much shaking from the bumps and vibration from the motor. I get decent video from my helmet, but the most stable video comes from my gopro chest mount rigged to use the threaded camera mount on the underside of the contour. However, the helmet mount has the benefit of being able to be aimed the direction I am looking.

I have the Drift camera

It has a remote control. I mounted it off the wind deflector on the left side.
It comes off easily when not in use. I had an extra wind deflector because I upgraded from the 2010 style to the 2011 style.
I think Lamont had mounted a ram ball mount in the same place.
Not trying to hijack the thread.
Just offering another option........

Yes I did watch the video. I will have it uploaded to YouTube today for all to see. I tried the airwing mount location. I thought it moved too much.

I don't have the contour but I have the gopro and I agree with others that I could never find a spot on the spyder that wouldn't shake. I purchased the chest mount and it gives the best looking video and a nice frame as you see the dash at the bottom of the screen.

However, everyone stares at you like your some sort of freak, thinking about getting the old baby bajoun out and getting a plastic doll. Mount the gopro in the head, I will get less look with a baby on board spyder than a camera. :roflblack:

Wish some cleaver person would come up with a steady cam mount for the spyder.

Road conditions?

Maybe the condition of the highway makes a big difference. I watched the video from NCSpyderRT and it was very stable and clear the whole time. Shoot, made me want to get a video recorder/camera but in Dallas you would just get footage of the freeway and near death experiences with the traffic :yikes:.

Definitely a pretty stable position for you. I've tried that same spot and it wasn't anywhere near that stable.
