• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Up until today I have had a decent Spyder...All at once when leaving work, didn't even make it out of the parking lot. EBD FAULT, VSS FAULT, ABS FAULT and CHECK DPS scrolling along one after another along with all the fancy anunciators and LIMP HOME MODE...45mph isn't much fun, especially when you need to go 30 miles to get to the dealership.:banghead:

Check your fuses and relays and make sure they are all seated good. That was the same codes I had when I had loose fuses and relays.

Someone else mentioned a problem with a major connector on the wiring harness that leaked and did the same thing. Plan B.

No it's about 35 miles away in a cold, lonely, empty, lifeless maintenance yard waiting to be repaired. I'll fwd this info, maybe I'll be back on 3 wheels at the end of the day.

Well....they checked the relay/fuse box, the computer plugs and have been on the phone with BRP back and forth. Their laptop sees the codes, but doesn't know what they are. Last time I spoke with them, they were downloading the newest laptop program from BRP...I think a BRP rep is in town this weekend, but still no spyder in my garage.

Thumb twidling...they still don't know ANYTHING...won't even give me a scooter to get back and forth to work. I think I may ask for a refund of the service contract and take it else where next time there is a problem.

Huh! That's weird...the needle on my mental lemmon law indicator has is showing some movement.
Hope things are different in Arizona. Here in Michigan it takes several visits for the same problem, and a certain length of time, before the lemon law kicks in. It doesn't cover motorcycles here, anyway. Have patience, grasshopper.

Does it cover a Roadster? :D

I didn't see it. Did you swap the #2 and #3 relays?
Supposedly they did. I asked them to check the relays and fuses several times, asked about computer connections, check the battery terminals. I am not sure they had the computer program to read the Spyder, they mentioned having to download a program to read the codes. They have had it since thursday, they should have started parts swapping by now. It's getting a little ridiculous, they still have no idea.

Well...they believe it's the VCM...I probably won't get the trike back for another 3 weeks.
1)Should I ask for BRP to make this months payment since I will not have the trike for 1 month since it was sent in for repairs?
2)Should I have them trailer the trike back to my house until the parts arrives? A full month in a maintenance shop...will it turn into a chair, or a table, or a work bench, or a step stool, or a shelf? Will parts be lost or damaged? That's a long time to sit, how long before the integrity of the employees to respect and be wary to stay away and stand clear of this machine until it is time for repair.

I doubt BRP will make your monthly payment but I like your thinkin!;)
I'd definitely ask for them to bring it back to your home until the part comes in or find a way to get it back home - yep - it will become a chair, a ladder or even a coffeetable.

What a nightmare...hope it only becomes a footrest...

BRP should make some concession for your inconvenience...perhaps a few add-ons for free...it's one thing to have the bike for a day or two...3 weeks is ridiculous for a new item...they should do the right thing and get you a complimentary helmet, coat, etc...

A company should stand behind its product. If they just shrug their shoulders and don't realize how 'put out' you are by this, then their customer service is really lacking.

Your dealership should back you on this and you should talk with a BRP executive...they should be more than willing to make you a little happier...to lessen your stress over this situation...

You also have a valid point about payments and not being able to ride...they should really at least make an effort to make it up to you...you shouldn't have to ask too much either...they should be willing to help you!

What I have never understood in these situations is why the warranty isn't automatically extended. You are deprived of the use of the machine for one of the 24 months of warranty, yet all manufacturers do nothing but reap the rewards, since they are exposed to claims for a month less in this situation. I have very few beefs with BRP over their various failures, they are understandable with any product, especially a new design, but the long waits for warranty parts and repairs, and their unwillingness to give you the full package you bargained for, are disturbing. At least our warranty issues, which have now reached over seven months waiting for parts, have not disabled our Spyder. You have my sympathy for your plight.

My thoughts are they should pull this part off the line and next day air it to you. They are putting out 50+ Spyders a day now and I know for a fact that they are starting to stack up at some of the dealers. My dealer has two for sale now. I would contact customer service directly on this one. 3 weeks is way too long.
