RT-622 Net System Thoughts?

As a new RT-622 owner, I would appreciate any feedback on those who have the cargo net system for the RT-622. It looks useful but for $200, I am still not certain that I need one. Also are any of the other RT-622 accessories in your "buy it" category. Thanks.

I saw their net and other inside accesories in last years Spyderfest. Look really nice, but since I take my golf clubs on occations, the organizer makes it difficult to get the golf bags in. However, I highly recomend the "kick" stand. http://store.spyder.brp.com/product/631079/219400190/_/Trailer_Tongue_Stand

I've had net things in other vehicles and they only kept small stuff from going anywhere. A friend of mine has a system in her SUV and only uses it when grocery bags are in there. I found a "bag" which can carry what ever it is you need to confine works just as good as net. Put a tag on it that says whats in it. Some of those clear containers work too if what you have to confine may break if bounced around too much. Good luck on your search.:2thumbs: BTW I can't see paying 200 for ANY kind of netting for in a vehicle!!

I'm glad that you submitted this thread. I too have been wondering/figuring how I would load my 622 and keep things from sliding all over the place.

I hope there is more input from others on this. That router pad looked interesting.

I bought the net system shortly after getting the trailer and really do like it.

I pretty much only use two of the three nets. One to keep stuff tucked in that back slot in the back and the one in the front to keep it from moving to the back.

Those two side storage bags it comes with are nice too. I keep my tire chocks, hitch and cable lock, road cones, first-aid kit, and trailer cover in them.

(note: trailer is all red, not two-tone...iPhone doesn't like low light photography too much)

PS: I got it from cyclegiant.com

I use two plastic milk crates. They hold what I want to carry and I can move them over the axle -- a bit forward or back -- depending on my tongue weight. Also with them in place, the small spaces around them are like smaller "containers". I have one crate that is forward and accessible from the front with the other on or slightly back of the axle that's the heaviest. Thus, I can easily shift the weight where i want it for balance.

It works for me and cost almost nothing compared to the screens.

I have the BRP net system for my RT622 and it does exactly what it was designed to do, that is, keep items in their place while underway. The only downside is the installation, not difficult, but takes a little effort to install.
I am very pleased with the net system and would recommend it to anyone without reservation.

I usually have my 622 packed to a point that nothing can slide around. nojokeSo I guess I don't need the net system. I just netted myself $200 for some other farkle!:clap:Don't think the wife would agree.

I have the net system and the kickstand. I like them both. When I carry my golf bags, I just unhook the nets and put the bags on top of them.

PM Honda East Toledo they're a spyder lover site sponsor, they're not allowed by BRP to advertise below what BRP set as the minimum advertise price..

So I won't mention $159.99 price tag for the Cargo Net System and get anyone in trouble :p, worth a PM

I don't understand why the 622 didn't come with a kickstand in the first place. Is there a big risk of it scraping the street or other objects?

All down to price, typically with a trailer the tongues stands are an added extra (option) and simply a way to get more money.

Worth adding though

I'm surprise no third party as come out with there own trailer options.

I too use the milk crate idea to keep things from rolling around. One crate usually holds a one gallon can of gasoline, extra cleaning materials, a folded tarp, fix-a-flat and cleaning rags tucked around. The other holds the extra helmet, RT cover, extra shoes, etc.

I bought a cargo net from Wal Mart that is for a pick up bed. It fits perfectly from side to side in the trailer, just about in the center. I wove a bungee in and out of the netting along the top and secure both sides top and bottom to clamps I added to the trailer.

That way it is easy to remove when I want to transport my golf clubs.

I have the cargo net system, and like it a lot. We carry a Yeti cooler in the center of the trailer, so we only use two nets. One in front to separate the front hatch from the rear area. We stash snacks behind that one between the cooler and net...very convenient. In the rear, the net divides off the very back of the trailer. A great place to stash extra boots, covers, shopping bags, etc. The kit also comes with two removable, zippered cargo bags, that hang at the sides. Great place for cable locks and smaller items.

Installlation is not much fun. You have to remove the carpet and make holes for the screws using the rails and a provided template. You may have to also use the rails and template to drill extra holes in the trailer for mounting...I did. The screws provided with the well nuts are quite short, and may not grab the well nuts through the rails laid over the carpet. I had to use some longer bolts to cinch down the rails to start, before replacing them with the shorter screws. The well nuts pull out easily if not fully inserted when you start the screws. They also can push through as you insert the screws blindly. It would be nice if they had larger flanges. Lay a tarp under the trailer or work on a cement floor, to find the nuts if they push through. Reach or look under after the screws are tightened to feel each well nut, to see that it is properly seated and fully ballooned. Not to be the bearer of bad news, just want to warn folks that the installation isn't just plug-n-play, and takes longer than expected. I do love the net system, and highly recommend it.

I use my 622 with nets to make runs to the HEB 32 miles from home to stockup on food. I do this due to living in a small west Texas town with 1 very overpriced local store and as another excuse to take a ride. The nets work very well.

I installed the net system in my trailer and the install is a pain in the butt. I recently purchased my trailer and I have only taken it once for a test ride so I haven't used the nets yet.

I would suggest the trailer tongue stand and the trailer cover. In my opinion the tongue stand should be standard considering the price you pay for the trailer. I also completed this mod to my trailer, Change the RT-622 side marker lights to turn signals and marker lights http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/...rker-lights-to-turn-signals-and-marker-lights

More Trailer Questions

Haven't got my trailer yet, just wondering:

1. What is optimal hitch weight, & how do you test it?
2. What is advantage of "kick stand"--just so you don't have to lift trailer by tongue?
3. Are those BRP plastic cargo chocks any good--for $35 or whatever?
4. Any tips for carrying gasoline inside the trailer--best container, source, etc. The tongue carrier looks efficient, but not sure I like the appearance.

Thanks for the comments so far.
