• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Better Fuel Milage for the RT?

I had a 2012 Spyder RS it got around 180 miles per tank of fuel (6500miles on it ) I traded it in on a new 2012 Spyder RT LTD and now after (1300 miles ) I am noticing I am only getting about 150 miles per tank of gas. Is there any way I could get this up to around 200 miles per tank of Gas? Are ther better tanks available for the spyders? I have asked the dealer and they seem to just pass over the issue.:chat:
 
You might want to PM Mr Orange regarding this issue; he mounted an auxiliary tank in the frunk and is pretty much considered the gas tank guru in here! :thumbup:
 
The average mpg for RT's seems to be about 30-32 miles per gallon. If you take 31 mpg x 5.5 gallons--about the most that people can put in the tank on a refill--you would end up with 170 miles.

Most people start looking for a refill at the 125-150 mile point. Also, most rely on the tripmeter as opposed to the gas gauge. If you are using the analog gauges, the gas light seems to go on at about 125 miles. With the digital gauges, the light goes on for me at about 150 miles.

The "small" gas tank has come up a lot of times--but it does not seem that BRP is going to address that situation. Look at the refueling as an opportunity to get off the Spyder, take a stretch, and maybe have a snack.

Mine would only get about 32 MPG until I got around 4000 miles on the bike. After that point, I started running 35 - 37 MPG. Miles seemed to make a differance. I almost always ride two up and run 91 octane.

Ditto for me. I am a firm believer in octane for the spyders. They seem to run cooler and get better milage and a little better performance. I get 35 mpg all the time unless i run e-ways a lot, but still not under 32mpg.:doorag:
 
I hope u all r right about miles cause on 91 oct i am only getting 23-26 at best??? all stock for now want a muffler maybe more anythang to help it. have just over 3000 miles on it an not any change.

As an average, 28 isn't bad for a roadster. Locally in the twisties I'll drop to 20 mpg and when the majority of my riding is sane... like out on the super slab. It'll jump to 30+.

Found for myself the best approach is to get fuel when I need it(eyes closed to price) - After all, it'll always be shortly after having had more fun than could be had at Disneyland - and less expensive too :doorag:

I still think that most of the fuel mileage reports are actually related as to how your right wrist gets along with the "loud grip"! ;)
 
Lets face it folks if fuel economy was our goal we would be riding a Suzuki 250cc single that gets 90 mpg and costs $3,800 to own! I find that if I get all OCD I can squeeze 35 mpg out of my 2012 RT-S on the Highway but only around 28 when I am actually having fun on the twisties. I prefer the twisties.

what we need is a ten gallon gas tank.

I get 14 in my pickup, 20 in my Boxster S and 28 with the RT I'm happy with all three and I appreciate regular breaks during a ride not into the hard butt riding so 28 is fine
