Yo you need major psychological evaluation, sympathy he is seeking NOT, just letting us his family know whats happening.

I guess you are the black sheep of the family we have to put up with

The heading on this Thread is "OPEN LETTER TO BRP" not Spyderlovers.... I take it he sent this letter to BRP.... My question is WTF does BRP care what his ailments are???? If trying to get Sympathy from BRP Works then GREAT!!!!!! More power to him!!!! Just Curious is all....

Guess you guys are his Press Secretary's huh???

If I were to Write to BRP about a Problem with my machine....Should I tell them I was due to go in for Back and neck Surgery...the following week I will have My Large intestine Sectioned to take care of my Diverticulitis...Then the following week I will need my Bike back because I need to Ride it down to my fathers house because he is dieing of Cancer????

Come on.....

might help get them to notice.....:)

do to a common interest we (and correct me if i'm wrong) have all become friends here.... as long as politics don't get involved speaking for myself none of us mind being a shoulder to lean on .... whether for a problem with that common interest or a somewhat related problem with that common interest .... my opinion

I am back from the shop and not too happy.

LMAO!!
Just my Point......I want to know if info in letters like this HELPS......

I understand that all of you Share in caring for his well Being....As do I....

I had tried two other posts to the Spyder Team, the official "voice" of BRP speaking of the problem and asking for information that might aid the techs in repairing the problem.

It is the DUTY of customer service reps to care about their customers. Of course it should not require such as I wrote but they did not notice the normal request for information and assistance.

I sent this to BRP and several forums to to let other people see what is happening. There appear to be a lot of SE-5s out there with shifting problems, to a point that the little gear postition sensor is backordered two weeks.

The more noise I make the more interested I believe BRP might be. I am not asking for anyone to care about my problems but I do want Spyder owners to know that BRP seems much less interested in them after they get their $1000 deposit than they do at the Demo rides. The more we get to talking about the quality problems and company response the more they will understand they shoud think of their customers as their number one priority.

At present it will take BRP nearly two weeks to correct what should be a half hour fix. If you don't like these posts then write to BRP and tell them to fix my Tryke so you don't have to read about my problems.

The shop where I take my service has been working on my bikes for about twenty years and this is the first time they have ever had to keep one more than twenty four hours. Guess that says it is not the shop's problem.

I asked my dealer here in SE Florida if they had heard anything from BRP about the SE5 issues some owners are having today when I was there. They were not familiar with any issues and have had no customer complaints either. I also mentioned the issue I had with the exhaust gasket (I replaced it myself instead of leaving if for warranty repair) and they have had no customers back with that problem either.

I guess what I'm saying in a round about way is that right now at least it seems like the SE5 owners are going to have to be vocal with BRP about their problems and see what they come up with.

Sorry to hear that all the Letters you fired off were Unanswered....If I were in your Situation I would be firing off letters also....

Thanks for answering one of my Questions....However,,,,I am still curious Though as to why you felt the need to include your medical problems when addressing your Spyder:dontknow:

BTW.....I never said I didnt like reading posts like this.....Information that these posts have are priceless when it comes to Educating Consumers....

Look, MWKE we all see that you like to make a point to the level of being uncompassionate. Why should shunkmanitu’s comments cause you any pain? Perhaps your in need of attention as you have mentioned your own medical condition. Not everyone hides their feelings and some even share theirs. Maybe you are a tough guy. Of course you would now say I’m off topic but the circle game can go on forever. MWKE I hope the best for you as I do shunkmanitu and may the spyder experirience be a reason for bringing people together. Bottom line: Let it go bro. By the way… are you a Vietnam Vet? Disabled Vet or did you do 20 or more years in the military? I am both a 100% disabled vet and a guy that completed 22 years in the military and I don’t like a fellow military member to be attacked for his unique character. But then again I really could care less what your opinion is at this point.

MWKE your posts in this thread are worthless and as others have pointed out uncompassionate.

Perhaps we should be asking you why you care so much what he put into his letter?

However he makes a valid point in two ways. Number one he's putting a human touch to the letter perhaps in hope that there is a special person at BRP (unlike jerks who are insensitive) who will read that letter and put a little extra effort into finding a solution to his problems with the SE5.

Number 2 he also is relaying to BRP the idea that the SE5 allows people who would not otherwise be riding a Spyder to now be customers and perhaps that will influence them as well to put a little effort behind his issue.

Several times in my posts I conveyed that I too was Concerned about his health..And I wished him well..I also conveyed that If I had a Problem such as his I would be writing letters to BRP...I DONT have a problem with the content of the letters....I was just asking Him a Freakin Question...Its nice that you guys Band together to defend him....Its nice to have Friends such as yourselves that will have each others back....I commend you....However,,,,I didnt ask you any questions....If I did,, I would have Started a NEW thread....

BTW,,,,I dont have any Military Service and I do thank everyone for their service when I do meet them....I live 5 min. from a Air Force Base....Lots of military friends over here....

Uncompassionate???? One of the biggest problems in Forum posts is reading Inflection....

You guys make it seem as if I was Attacking him....Not the case....I didnt expect this to get this Blown out....

shunkmanitu,,,,,I truly meant NO disrespect.... Best Wishes to you and your Tryke....

MWKE

Sounds like the perfect scenario for sending a private message.

Oops there I go again, this wasn't a question to any of us. I shouldn't have responded. :banghead:

Sorry to start a fight, only trying anything to get BRP's interest.

Thank you all for your input and support!

Now if we can just get BRP to pay attention and get the service information, and just as important, required repair parts to their dealers in a timely manner. I feel that BRP should make warrantee parts an immediate priority and authorize overnight shipment. Two weeks is just not an acceptable repair time on a half hour replacement. PMS found the problem, a gear position sensor, almost immediately but the part is on backorder and is not due to arrive at least till Oct 26. I believe that is a Saturday so it will probably be the following Tuesday (closed Monday) making it two full weeks since I took it into the shop.

Thanks for keeping us up to speed on the repair issue, as I said, I have had the same problem twice now but it seems to have gone away. I’m thinking maybe my gear position sensor should be replaced just for preventative measures. Did your dealer find computer error codes or other physical damage? If so, I could tell my dealer what exactly to look for. I also think we owners have waited long enough just to get our spyders so the least BRP could do is pull a couple sensors from the production line from some of their demo spyders if need be.

I feel your pain, I had a bike laid up for a week just waiting on a battery cable to be replaced under warranty. It sucks to have your ride sitting idle. The good thing is that at least your dealer was able to figure out the problem.

I will gather as much info as I can and pass it on.

As I had mentioned they had one other case and on that one the shop manager told me that they could get nothing out of the computer. Something to the effect that it was not transmitting any codes. I was not mad at the dealer but when he told me the part was back ordered till the 26th I thanked him as I turned and walked quickly out.

As I have said, Pensacola Motorsports has done me well over the years with bikes and service. I am not sure if their policy is still the same for the Spyder but the last few times (at least three years ago) I had tires mounted and balanced they were about $10 each ON the bike as long as you bought from them. Of course they charged more than mail order but as I aged and other little shops went up they became quite competitive. Even with inflation ($s not PSI) I am happy with their pricing and the "VIP" discount. They are a good full service dealer and keep a reasonable inventory or OEM and aftermarket items. Since they were one of the first to demo and sell Spyders with a good sales track and high volume I would expect BRP to bend over backwards to support them.

This whole thing might not have been such an issue if BRP had made their original commitment to deliver the original Red SM-5 that I ordered. It was promised by August 30 and just showed up about a week ago. I was lucky the first Red SE-5 delivered was declined and Jimmy gave me a shot at it. After sweet talking my wife out of a little additional funds I took delivery within a couple of hours. This was well into September and I was within about half an hour of pulling my deposit and going to look at a custom trike dealer in the area. Though I was a little uncertain about the shift it is actually much better for my arm. I already have at least two other diabetic patients who may soon be on dialysis interested in Spyders.

My point about talking to the other patients and staff about Iktome is very relative to Future Ryders. That shiny RED Spyder sitting directly in front of the door three days a week with the disabled placard behind the windscreen IS great advertising. Same goes for it sitting by the door at IHOP, Denny's, or the Golden Corral where other disabled persons can look and ask about it. Even if only one in a thousand that ask ever buys a Spyder that is one more customer that BRP can ignore after they get their money.
