• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

You wouldn't want to try this with any Ford, Chevy or Dodge. nojoke

Total weight 307,000 LBS with a stock 1/2 ton pickup....... :yikes: Thank God I made the right choice in buying my truck. DID YOU ????????????????? :roflblack:

Really can be done with any stock pickup if you understand the mechanics of it.

There is any stock pickup and then there is the best. What do you think NASA would choose to tow a 1.7 billion dollar Spacecraft ??????? Thought so !!!!!!!! :roflblack:

The way that was rigged up, a John Deere A could of probably pulled it. Yes, any stock pickup could have done that.

You should watch this one and you will understand why the choice was made for TUNDRA.

Funny how they lead you to believe it's a 2 wheel drive pickup but it's actually a 4x4. nojoke

The Tundra in question was bone-stock, a CrewMax with a 6.5-foot bed and the 381-horsepower, 5.7-liter V-8, and it came off the same line in San Antonio, Texas, as all Tundras do. This Tundra used the company’s A-TRAC system and four-wheel drive to provide the traction the truck would need to move the Shuttle from a stop; of course, the Toyota came equipped with the tow package. Toyota had done tests ahead of time with a higher amount of weight than the Shuttle/transporter combo, and it did well there.

I had sent that video to a buddy and he said his old Durango could pull the shuttle. Sure it could... Yea, right.

nojokeSorry to burst your bubble but put a 36 ft gooseneck trailer full of 1000 lbs bulls head for a long grade and any diesel will out pull out last stay cooler and do it for 1/2 the fuel of your toy truck sorry when you want to pull there is no gas truck that will come close and do it for 100s of thousands of miles like a real diesel will

Seems your myth is busted !!!!!!!!!! :roflblack:

This thead is for fun. No offense to anyone about what they drive.

Nice try Randy!
But everybody knows that a rolling load is a WHOLE lot different than a static one that's being lifted... :roflblack:
With some gearing changes and a whole lot of traction additives; I bet that you could coax a Spyder into getting that sucker to moving!

As with any aircraft/spacecraft going out for static display, they are stripped of engines, electronics, hazardous materials, etc. so the weight is not true gross. And it's no longer worth $1.5 billion. As is quoted often on SL, "Drive what you like, Like what you drive".

My Subaru Tribeca (SUV) hauls whatever I need, so have never owned a truck here in AK. Cars are in the minority though.

...But it still does take up an impressive amount of real-estate...

True, very true. When I was active duty I helped ready several aircraft for permanent display. What you see is pretty much just an airframe. On jets what looks like the tailpipe of engines is just that, only the tailpipe. And sometimes only a small part of that.
