• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2013 Can-Am Roadster Owner Event

Agree, will never go back to Gatlinburg. Were there on 2 wheels and tried to find parking, no luck. Got on a street that ended in a private parking lot, the security guard would not let us ride in and make a U turn, had to jockey back and forth on the narrow street.

Back in the 80's the street rods and some GWRRA folks always gathered in Gatlinburg, continuously riding up River Road to the top of town and then down the Parkway. By 1985 the city passed an ordinance prohibiting that kind of thing and the rodders and bikers all moved to Pigeon Forge. Good luck trying to put anything together in Gatlinburg.... you will be chased out of town in a hurry.

Just a bit of history and small correction: when we all ordered and, then, nine months later actually got our Spyders, someone began to talk about a gathering of Spyders in 2008. Many places were suggested; finally the decision was made to have the first one in Gatlinburg. The event was called "Spyders in the Smokies" (SITS). We met in Sept. that year and for three years following. Lamont's BBQ was planned at the same time and we all had an incredible time.

Each subsequent year was, in a way, like Spyderfest in that we went for the fellowship and the rides. Most of us paid scant attention to the place except for the fact that it was a great "jumping-off" to Deals Gap, Cherahola and the BBQ.

Spyders in the Smokies became (I think it was in the fourth year) Spyders in the Adirondacks (SITA). Spyderfest is, in part, a compromise because it is in the center of the US. It was difficult to attract far western owners because they had to ride across the whole country. Other events were held under other auspices to meet local needs.

Contrary to Double Trouble's conclusion, the Spyders had no problems with the city of Gatlinburg that I know of.

SITA will be an easy ryde for me, approx 2.5 hours of leisurely ryde from my house. I would like to do Spyderfest just so that I can meet more ryders. I can't wait to ryde with a group of people who understand my obsession with this machine. Riding with motorcyclists is ok, but they don't seem to understand why we love our spyders so much. Didn't get much time to ryde this year as I got my spyder in august and was still working out of town a lot. That will all change this year as I am working closer to home now. I look forward to meeting as many ryders as possible, no matter how far I have to ryde to do it. Spryng can't get here soon enough, LET'S RYDE.

I spoke with an informed source in Maggie Vally about four months ago who said it was going to be held there in 2013. I'm convinced.

I feel the current way of alternating east and west works. You can't please everyone with location. And with costs and logistics it would be difficult to have more than one event per year. We would love to go to Colorado and maybe one year we can. We really want to do Spyderfest. Anyway, that's my opinion.

There are some awesome roads in WV and in deep south west VA along the border of WV...

WV has my vote.

Owners Meet 2013

OK, so now I'm retired and I'm ready to go. Spyderfest is Ozark, MO and I'm going. So tell me where the owners meet is for 2013 and I'll be there. I have 48 states and 2 Provinces under my belt so if it's within 25000 miles of ND, AK or the other 8 or 9 Provinces. (some of my Canadian friends say there is a new Province) I'll be there!

Then come on by California in August for Spyders of the Redwoods! :-)

Since the circumference of the earth is about 25,000 miles, there isn't much of anywhere that you're not going to be able to go with that kind of range!

How you plan to cross the ocean? :dontknow:

Can't believe BRP hasn't released information on their 2013 Owner's Event. :dontknow:
It would be nice to know so we can plan ahead.nojoke

They really need to plan this further in advance so they can announce it the first couple weeks of January. This is ridiculous. Not everyone is retired and can drive clear across the country at the drop of a hat. Some people still have jobs and thus have to get their employers approval to get the time off. And the request can't conflict with other people's requests. The longer they wait the less people will be able to come!
