• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Waterproof your smartphone

Well THAT was just a little bit amazing!
I'm curious though; plugging in a set of earbuds to that phone would seem to me to have the potential to wear away that coating in a tender spot...
Since I don't even have a cellphone (no service in my area), what do you guys think?

I would think if that connection point had that seal on it it would not allow any conduction. Isn't the whole purpose to stop any shorting of electrical components?

Bob,

Based on your question, how can the product insulate and also conduct?

I can barely remember which fingers don't go in the light sockets at home...
You're way beyond my realm of comprehension; but it sounds like an important question!
For which I have no answer... :opps:

Bob,

My son-in-law mentioned a similar product last week for a gps and I asked him to send me the website; I'm still waiting. He said you send in the gps and they apply the coating. I asked him the same question about insulation/conduction. It sure sounds like a great product.

I just found this and it explains their coating acts as a repellant. So, I guess it doesn't act as an insulator:

Okay; that's pretty cool!
But If you took a bath in that stuff and tried to jump in a pond; would it just keep you levitating above the waterline?? :roflblack: :joke:

My personal choices the life proof case

Since I use my phone as my GPS I've also been known to drop my phone or back over it with the front tire of Miss Spyder and various other things, I like the indestructibility of the life proof case. I am sure some would consider it bulky I don't see it as an issue for the safety of that very expensive iPhone just my opinion. I looked at this new product and has advantages but the life proof has so many more. Everyone have a great day.

waterproof?

My wife just got back from the Big Apple (not the store ;)), with these ziplock bags that allow you to use the touchscreen through them. :hun:

Pretty cool!

They talked about this procuct a little bit this morning on The Weather Channel...
I guess that it can make pretty good sense if you've got your cellphone out in a decent rainstorm.
They showed a facial tissue that had been treated. They dunked it into a glass of water and it came out perfectly dry!
Which gave me a great idea for a practical joke! ;)
