There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Gas smell after riding Spyder - Solved!

RTS

Anyone seen this happening with RTs yet? :yikes:after reading all the posts relating to this i thought it was just teh fuel boilign in the tank, but now I wonder. haven't seen any puddles, but wondered? i've got a 2012 RT A&C with about 11k miles on it. :banghead:

2012 RT-S I get some gas odors when I come home from riding - no puddles, just the smell of gas like I just filled the tank

how do you remove the plastic cover over the gas thing? do I need to remove the right side panel or is there a way to just remove that plastic cover under the seat?

plastic cover removal

the cover is held on with two piece plastic fasteners .first pull out the centre pin and then the outer part can be pulled out .there are tools available from auto supply shops to make it simple .you still need to take off the side panels .

The gas fumes you are smelling (now/or could - at some point in time) when stopped at a stop sign, traffic light, or perhaps when you park at the coffee shop may not be iminating from the spyders evaporative canister system.

Read post #1 & #18.

For well over a year I have noticed a fuel smell in all of these conditions. All this time I have wrongly thought the gas smell was coming from the evap canister system because the only fuel drips that were ever evident, were coming from the canister vent hose.

If ever you smell fuel. DO NOT make the same mistake I did - and assume - it's coming from the canister system. You could have a leak that has not shown itself. I did....and did not know it until it got bad enough to be observed by hiting the ground.

Good advice, Jer!
