• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Ultimate Seat

I've been a little shy to pull the trigger on a new seat, considering the cost, and not knowing if it is the right one until AFTER you ride for an extended time. So when Stillriding posted up his for sale, I decided to take the chance on it. WOW! What a difference! We rode part of the Blue Ridge Parkway, and some other nice roads yesterday, and that seat was so comfortable! I can also see now why CincySpyder told me I needed to get a back rest! I actually felt more in control, since I wasn't using my arms to hold myself forward. All in all, that was a great investment, and I can't wait for Deals Gap / Robbinsville next month!

Did you install it yourself, if so was it hard to do? I'm also considering an Ultimate seat for
my 2012 RT.

Replacing the OEM seat with an Ultimate seat is not a difficult task. Recommend you get a rotating ratchet which will make removing the hinge bolt nuts much easier/quicker. Also be sure and tape over all the openings under the seat so as not to lose a piece of hardware into one of the openings. Seems like once that happens, retrieving the dropped item is next to impossible. The Ultimate website has the seat removal/installation instructions available for downloading.

I also have a 2012 RT (Ltd) and I iinstalled the Ultimate seat as my first mod. I really like it and recommend it as an improvement over the stock seat. If you decide on the Ultimate seat, recommend you also get the backrest and the rain cover. The seat is not waterproof and the rain cover will protect your seat (investment) should you get caught in a downpour. If you need to put on your rain gear, put the cover on the seat and ryde!

:agree:

I've had my stock seat off before, and installing IT was more difficult than installing the Ultimate. As for the rotating ratchet, I cheated, and used my pneumatic ratchet. That is the hardest part of the seat exchange - those back hinge bolts are hard to get to.

Love my Ultimate seat.

I have the Ultimate seat, back rest and passenger back rest. One of the best add ons I have done. Put the Ultimate on and then road 4500+ miles right after I got it. Love, love it. Can't seem to post a pic, but the Ultimate web site should have it. Just look for the purple!!

I sure like the looks of those Ultimate seats and would like to sit back a couple of inches more compared to the stock seat.

My question is does the passenger loose a lot of there seating area and comfort that the driver gains?
I would hate to squeeze my wife at my expense.

Is the Spyder's stock seat waterproof?

I'm a little curious about the fuel filler door. Does that ever interfere with the rider's knees? It looks as if that metal lip around the door might not be the best thing to bang against...:yikes:

My wife didn't notice the difference, or didn't feel squished. Also she actually feels more secure now because of my back rest. Another difference between the Ultimate and stock is that she felt like the stock was tilting forward, and leaning her into me, where the Ultimate feels level, or maybe leaning back a bit. It's better on her back.

They make them without the filler door. That's the one I got. I don't care for that big door in the side of my seat. If I were to buy one for the door, Corbin has a neat setup. It still looks like the seat (leather and all), but is hinged so you can still fuel without lifting the seat.

As for us, lifting the seat is no issue, as after 130 miles, she also wants to get off and stretch a bit.

You will need to ride the Snake on Rt 421 in NC near Boone (not too far from Bristol TN). I like it better than the Dragon and less traffic. 33 miles and 489 curves. A Spyder killed the snake! LOL

There is also the back of the Dragon. I haven't rode that yet, but hubby did with the guys, I went shopping that day...
