• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Motorcycle Etiquette....

I had the same problem and installed a talon alarm with perimeter. As soon as they get to close the alarm goes off with a few chrips to warn them and you would be suprised how much this stops them

:yikes: This is the thing I worry about too.

I have even had one fellow at work reportedly sit on my Burgman 650 when I was in working.

My Spyder will get a quickly deployable, snowmobile cover or something to go over the seat & dash portion before I even drive IT to work.
This should de sway all but the most dogged nut cases.

Mike

You are 100% right to be upset! That's just being "stupid" to touch another persons anything without asking!

I have come to blows with such stupid people in the past! Let's just say it was all bad for them from that point on!

I have also seen people almost get shot at the big rallies for such things.

Stupidity is free! That's why there is so much of it going around! :dontknow:

People say "Oh it's free to be stupid, than give we a whold bunch if it's for free! That way I can be real stupid!'

That's why when people do stupid things to me, I make sure they "pay for it" one way or another!

Than next time they'll remember just how much "being stupid" really costs!

MM

Hey MM,
Would it be possible to come up with a quick cover? Something designed to quickly cover the :spyder: seat when u run into a store to pay for gas etc.
I plan on getting a Talon alarm as well but until thats installed I think there is a real need for some type of cover that would prevent people from sitting on your seat but at the same time allow them to see the bike. Think thats possible? Im sure a lot of people would buy it:2thumbs:

If you're fine with other people putting their hands on your stuff than so be it, but anyone has the right to get upset if someone is sitting on their Spyder. It's the same as coming out of a store and finding someone sitting in your car or how bout you came home from work one day and found someone sitting in your house. Would you be made or just think it's okay cause you have a cool couch and it's alright for folks to check it out.
Thank you...

And I would be one of them.

Qwik Shade does the trick. Not only keeps seat and tank area cool and dust free, but no on has tried to sit on it since I started using it when I park.

I like this idea. I'll look into it. Thanks!

Consider this scenario: Someone gets on your bike when you are not nearby for a picture and as she gets off, she misplaces her foot and scratches her leg on the foot peg. She needs six stitches. Am I, the owner of the bike, in ANY way negligent??

:agree:

Here's another scenario that has happened to me. Whomever sat on my ride in the garage at work popped the gear into neutral AND disengaged the parking brake. Fortunatley, I noticed it rolled easily when I unlocked the boot; no damage done, just a bit disconcerting.

However, suppose the :spyder: was on an incline and rolled away, causing damage or injuring someone, would I be held accountable?

On a different note... another individual, whom I caught outside Barnes&Noble, was sitting on the Cowl :yikes: and had the :cus:s to ask why the passenger seat was so uncomfortable? :banghead:

Who sells those?

LOVE that cover - who sells them again? I think I may be getting one of those - very cool looking indeed!

J&P Cycles has several designs in the Qwik Shade line, but no longer have the spider web model. The medium covers seat and tank and so far fo me, has kept people from sitting on it. The silver and black medium size are just $45. Other designs are $65. Larger sizes are more. The medium folds down and literally fits in a coat pocket.

The one in the photo is a medium and covers seat and tank. Lamonster ordered a large and it covers the windshield and all his gizmos. If you have installed electronic gear that you want to hide, you should look at his post of how the large fits.

You folks who warn, cry, or talk patiently with these bad-mannered imbeciles are far more understanding than I would be. I'd be arrested for aggravated assault for sure.

Thanks! yep - went to JP Cycles and the webs are gone. Looks like they are discontinued on the Qwik Shade site too. Bummer!

I noticed your post on the Qwik shade a little while ago, I think its an awesome product and i have it on my list of accessories that I will definitely purchase. However, this seems like a product that may take a little while to put on and im thinking more in the lines of something that wont take more than two seconds to throw on and move on. I would love something that u can grab from the trunk, throw on the seat, and go into the store without really having a lot of tie downs to worry about. I would use the Qwik Shade if i was going into a restaurant to eat or but not if i was just going to pay for gas. Great product though!!:2thumbs:

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll be ordering one tonight. It looks like the web pattern is still on the website.

It takes about a minute to put it on once you figure out where to attach the six S hooks. I keep it in my Nelson Rigg Silver Streak mini Sport saddlebags so it is handy. I don't put it on at gas stations, money machines, etc. If I am going inside a store or restaurant, I take the minute to get it out and put it on mostly to keep the seat from getting hot, but I found it is just enough to keep people at bay.
