• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

California Scientific Windshield

I have ordered one and it should arrive next week. Of course, I will be gone most of next week but hope to install it the following weekend.

I sure hope it is as good as they say because I find my Spyder RT Limited very, very windy and not nearly as quiet as my HD Street Glide.

Please let us know how much you like it!.

For me it is money well spent. I am very pleased with my purchase and my wife is extremely pleased. And that my friend is the best approval a man can get.

I AGREE! Installed my new large last night! Am 5'10 and the large is exactly in the same position at all heights as the stock shield, but much much smoother air flow. Highly recommend!

Tinted shorty. Have not taken it for a ride yet. I am 5'-7" and it still seems like I am going to be looking through it some.

On their sizing chart, they list various inches shorter than a "stock" shield. Since the stock shield size varied amongst RT model years does anyone know which model year RT they are using on their sizing chart? I'm 5' 8" and have the BRP sport windscreen currently which works well for me height wise. Fully down I can look comfortably over it and fully up, comfortably through it. I think there might be some value in the wider width as well as the vent but am not sure what size to get..thx

Stock on my 12 is 25. Shorty is 18. Did 125 miles or so in the wind today and it is great. A little more noise with it all the way down, but I expected that. I can see over it great and I don't notice anymore wind in the chest from the hole. Plus I think the tinted looks better.

I've got the 2010 "Barn door" model windshield...
At it's lowest positioning; It's just about trying to look through another set of bifocals! :gaah:

Ok, so the stock 11 & 12 screens are 25" high..The touring windshield I have is 23"..The large Calsci should be 22" high (it shows 3" shorter) and the XL should be 23.5 listed at 1.5" shorter. If you like looking over it while down and through it while up (rain and high speed). The L and XL seem to be the ones to choose from. I would think that the medium all the way up would be right at eye level which is not desirable for most.

It would depend on your height. The medium is nowhere near blocking my view at the lowest and looking through it at the highest position. The stock windshield on my 2010 was 27" high, so I wouldn't was always looking through it. I usually ride with it up 1" and it's perfect.

I wound up buying the large..i like the height on my low touring screen and the large is only 1/2" different. In the rain i woud like it to be even taller but you can't have everything. They have a good policy about trying out and exchanging if desired. If i didn't just get back from a 1300 mile trip with a lot of rain i may have gone with the medium.

Ordered the "Tinted Shorty" today............looks just to cool and reasonably priced as well.:doorag:

This is the thread linked to from CalSci's website. Have there been any more recent experiences with this product? My goal is to eliminate the backdraft, which is particularly unpleasant in cold, wet conditions.
