• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. No such thing as a 3000 mile service for RT (and maybe others)!

I have two dealers within 25 miles (Dallas metroplex) and needed an oil and filter change. Dealer A quoted me over $300-$325 telling me the oil change MUST include "the 3000 mile service".:wrong:

Dealer B quoted me $112 firm, all in, and told me there is no such thing as a 3000 mile service. :)

I called Can-Am and they verified... there is no 3000 mile service requirement. They had a 3000 early on but ongoing testing of the RT showed there is no longer a need... and they dropped it a while back.

As it stands, with the NEW oil and larger transmission filters, an owner can now enjoy 4600 miles between oil changes (after the initial 600 break-in service). Also, the anticipated valve adjustment has also been pushed WAY out (forget the miles). The dealers are supposed to provide owners with a new Maintenance Supplement Booklet to everyone who gets the new filters. I got one from Dealer B.

Needless to say, I am now a customer of Dealer B (Richardson Motor Sports)... He kept his word AND for the price of the oil change he also checked my Belt Tension and Alignment, aired all the tires and installed the new quick change Lower Panel... and answered all my questions. Oh, and I was able to make an appointment and get it all done while I watched!

It's a good day when a good , well-informed, honest dealer can be found.

I had just changed the oil about 600 miles ago when I got the letter and coupon from BRP for the new panel and filters. I asked my tech is I can wait on it as I did not want to change the oil this soon. He said, "I don't have to change the oil with the new panel and filters". No need....it appears to me some dealers are just adding an addional oil change on your nickel....

:spyder2:

At my 600 mile checkup, my dealer informed that the next one was at 4600 miles. Incidentally, the cost for the first checkup and oil change was about $160, :) and at least 8% of that was NY tax. :(

I live in Dallas and will be buying a Spyder this week. Do these filters come already on new RTs? Is this something I should ask the dealer about.?

Who is dealer A? Just like to know which dealers to be cautious with. Please PM me if you don't want to post the name publicly.

I've heard good things about the service at Richardson Motorsports. Unfortunately their quote for a purchase was 3000 than Louis Powersports in Greenville.

There is a requirement for a 3000 mile service until the upgraded oil filter system is installed. After that the requirement is 4600 miles. Just had the 3000 service two days ago with the filter upgrade. Dealer is in Ocala, FL. They set an appoointment time, gave a time to pick up the machine and had it ready.
