There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Now back to the topic...to guys on HDs and crotch rockets, Spyders are definitely NOT motorcycles. I keep getting reminded of that.

In Nevada, anything with only one powered wheel requires a motorcycle license. Though your traditional trike does not.

Why wouldn't a trike (three wheels) or a bike (two wheels) be a motorcycle? If it has a motor, and is a cycle (either by law or by virtue of the handlebars), it should be a a motorcycle. This is one area where the definitions are certainly in the mind of the beholder, i guess. To me, this is a trike.

For those states with helmet laws, if you have to wear a helmet to ride it, it's a motorcycle. If you have to have a motorcycle endorsement to ride it, it's a motorcycle. If you have to carry motorcycle insurance on it, it's a motorcycle.

I have to have a motorcycle license to drive it, have to have a recreational loan for a motorcycle to pay for it, and I have to have motorcycle insurance to not get a ticket from the law mans.
So therefore, it must be a motorcycle.
Doesnt matter what I think or what I call it. The Government and the Banks call it a motorcycle obviously, so I must adhere to their verdict or suffer some supposed wrath.

By law in most states and provinces, it is a motorcycle. To some people, it is a trike because it has three wheels. To an engineer, it is in a category by itself...call it an inverted trike, reverse trike, or tadpole trike, if you like. I don't consider it to be a motorcycle any more than I think of a top fuel dragster as an automobile...it is related, but different. I don't think of it as a "roadster", either, since to me that is an automobile with a soft top and window curtains. It's just my Spyder...also a misleading term since there are several autos with that moniker. Call it what you wish. The name isn't important...just the fun!

And that's the reason I'm captured by it. People don't even know what to think or envision when they see it. It just puts their mind in a state of imagination....and I love it.

I have a Harley and I think it's a Cycle [From Late Latin cyclus, from Greek kuklos cycle, circle, ring, wheel; see wheel ] with a motor. Therefore motorcycle.
Most cagers call it a bike. People I ride with tend to call it the Can Am (then again CanAmChris is my roadname). The only people that call it a Spyder are family and other Spyder owners.
The Spyder has a saddle, handlebars, less than four wheels and is not enclosed so it is a motorcycle in the great state of Pennsylvania.
I think from now on I will just call it "The Awsome". That way when my two wheel friends decide to give me some ribbing I will remind them that they just have a fat, heavy bicycle with a motor. I have... The Awsome.
