• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Radio Keeps Re-setting

I know ohters have complained about this but not sure I ever heard what causes the problem. Every weeks or 2 the I will find that the auto volumn has stopped working. When I check all audio settings are back to default and I have to reset everything. I have not touched the battery but I did check to see the cable are tight which there are. Any thoughts?

Thanks

Randy

No, not hooked to buds, just average driving. Over the last 3 months it has done 5 times (I was in for the software update but it did not change when I picked it up so that is ruled out. I have the new radio that was a replacement for the stock on that was drawing too much power and changed under warranty. The old radio had this problem as well.

I'm not very good with electricals... so the only other thing that I wonder, is if the radio needs a little bit of jiuice getting to it while everything is off so as to mainitain those settings... and something is interrupting the power? :dontknow:
And if it sounds stupid; it's the best that I've got for this one! :opps:

At this point anything is possible Bob. Hopefully someone knows what is going on with this or BRP is monitoring and gets involved.

The best way to get BRP involved is to take it to your dealer. I would suggest at least having them open a case file for it. Be sure to get the BRP case file number.

When the radio get disconnected the settings go back to default. I only know this as I just had my radio replaced, and the mechanic asked me if there were specific settings I wanted on the radio. I asked why he was asking and he explained the reason.

Sounds like a loose connector somewhere ...

 Could I have even been close to being close on this one???

Yes, will bring it to their attention next time I am in. I know I have heard many other mention this as well so I was hopeing to see what they found out.

Take care,

Randy

My auto volume keeps resetting 1 or more times a week as well I have an appointment to replace my fuel gauge on Sept 8 and I will ask about it then

Hi Don,

Since we both bought at the same dealer let me know what they say, I am doubting there is a fix since I have not heard of any so far over the past 18 months but I would be happy to be wrong about that.

Thanks again for schematics and the software you gave me the other nite :-)

Ref Radio Re-setting

Not sure if this will help

On my Spyder RT -S SE5 2010 Model - My radio would reset back to region A - For USA and Canada, For the UK it should be
set to Region B - This is done via the Audio Menu in the cluster display
It would stay on Region B unless i used the ipod via Aux - The next time I switched the Spyder on it was back to Region A

Last week I noticed my BRP carbon fiber aerial has seperated from the brass base. It was crimp fitting and it appears vibration ate away at the crimp - I Replaced it with an aftermarket one
Since then the Radio has remained on Region B even after selecting the ipod and turning the Spyder on and off

It maybe worth getting the dealer to check the Antenna and if need be replace it to see if this helps

I used to have my radio reset quit often.

But what I have noticed.

If the key is turned on without engine running pushing or holding the down arrow several times will cause a radio reset.

I do not know the exact key combination or pushes but I don't try to mute the radio anymore or change the volume
if the engine is not running and have had no more resets.

That is interesting as my antenna did the same thing, broke lose at the crimp. They have new one on order so I will check that out. I told the dealer and they will check out this issue with BRP as well.

Regards,

Randy
