• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Rear brake light

New member
I am new Rt owner of 4 days based in the UK.
Without the ignition switch on if I press the footbrake the rear brake light comes on.Does anyone know if this is correct or should it only illuminate when the ignition is on. Spyders are very rare here in the UK and my Dealer does not seem to know.
Thank you

Teddy & I would like to say Congrats on the New Ryde & Welcome to the SpyderHood

:congrats: & :welcome:

And yes, as others have stated, that is normal for the brake lights to illuminate without the key having to be on

They light up with switch off just like a car step on brake lights come on
Thanks
I am used here in Europe for the brake light to only come on (motorcycles and Car) when the ignition is turned on so I was unsure whether the dealer had built up the Spyder correctly

Let's see if we can get another bit...

Beako - In the US, we call the storage compartment of the car a "trunk", In the UK, it is a "Boot". Now on the spyder, since the trunk is in the front, we call it a "Frunk". Is it still a "boot", even though it's in the front? :joke::joke:

Or, since its in the front, would it be a "foot"?

I'm getting dizzy wandering around the bike trying to figure out what is where...

I would think the front boot would be the froot.

They have you covered on the brake light issue. :welcome:

I have given this considerable thought and I think it would be a foot and seeing as we are talking about foots or frunks the one on my RT has broken already it would not lock closed. The Dealer came around to look and now they have had to order parts not a good start.
I live in Beaconsfield Buckinghamshire about 15 miles west of the Olympic city London.
Thanks for your help guys

Be sure yours does not just need to be adjusted. A number of them either would not latch or would not open electrically, and only adjustment and lubrication of the latch was needed.
