There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Spyder Dyno Kit Coming!

Preliminary testing has looked very promising, so we have begun further work on our Spyder Dyno Kit.

This kit will allow for a person to "temporarily disable the VSS system" Allowing the Spyder to be run on a Dyno for real tuning and testing of performance items.:2excited:

As I know many of you are going to ask this, I will adress this question now.

Although this kit could be left in place allowing the VSS to be disabled while driving, this kit should never be used for anything but controlled off road Dynamometer testing only. :D

Although I think the reasons are obvious to everyone? The main reasons are because disabling the VSS system and driving your Spyder on the roads could pose many safety and liability issues for everyone.

If our further testing goes as planned, our Dyno Testing Kit should be ready later in the fall.

Sometimes you test on the stationary dyno, sometimes you test on the Seat Of The Pants dyno!

"Seat of the pants Dyno." Wow! I never thought of doing that! ;)

But I am sure you know for liability reasons I would never do that myself! :D

NMN's offical point will always be this is an off road controlled environment Dyamometer testing kit only.

Now if this unit could just be set up to only dyno the low end- say up to 25 mph and then switch back to normal vss mode - hmmmmm.

You see, I only want to dyno the low end.:D

I'm a little confused here. Has anyone even tried to put their Spyder on a dyno yet, or are we just assuming the nanny will kick in? Seems to me, that if I can light up my rear tire and holeshot to my hearts content, why couldn't I dyno my Spyder? Same conditions, no? The biggest drawback that I see is finding a floor mounted dyno. Most bike dynos are platform Dynojets, won't work on the Spyder. Need to find a floor mount, and someone willing to fab some front wheel stops.
Lotsa folks on here and other forums say you can't dyno the Spyder, I have yet to hear from someone who has actually tried.....

All that said, I'm certainly interested in your "test"

kit...

Put your Spyder on jack stands and run it over 40 mph and tell me how that worked for you.:spyder:

Did this when I was playing with the cruise control and the Spyder goes into limp mode. You can do a burnout to a point but you can't run it on a dyno for long, trust me.

Well sounds like I'm gonna have to sign a waiver, cause my :spyder: gonna have it on all the time. :2thumbs::bowdown:

Remember, the Spyder has speed sensors on all 3 wheels. The rear is the one you see on the speedometer.

In a straight line - Spyder won't let the back tire and front tire be too far off speed-wise for too long or the nanny kicks in.

Do a burnout in the grass sometime - once Spyder reads around the 40 mark the nanny kicks in.

I would like it to leave things alone in a straight line altogether, and only kick in during turns if you are going over 30 mph. I have had times where it cut the engine when I really NEEDED that power - like when pulling out of my driveway!

I'd like to activate or disable it at my discretion...I don't like being protected from myself...

Everybody says that! That is until they ether wreck their Spyder, get hurt, or worse yet get killed.

Then their widow and her lawyers never seem to remember that fact during the lawsuit.

We will never make one with an easy on off switch. That is, as long as in America people can sue anybody for anything. Even when it's their own poor judgement.

It will always take a deliiberate act on the customers part to have put the Dyno Kit on their bike. That way it will not ever be a case of the switch somehow got fliped and the rider did not know. :yikes:
