This may be the ticket for the guys that want to go from a pipe that is louder than stock but still has some bite to it when you get on it. I rode to town and back with this pipe and with the baffle in it sounds pretty much like the Hindel. I could hear the motor over the pipe when cruising down the road. the carbon fiber looks great on it too. NoMagicNeon has these.:doorag:

Now when you're ready for a ride with your HD buddies you can pull the baffle with two screws and it will then sound more like the Micron. I think this is the best of both worlds.:doorag::spyder:

Looks good. I for one don't care for the announcement of my arrival prior to the visual! A pipe with a little more sound but not so much that I attract any more attention than the machine will already attract is a good thing for me. While waiting for my Spyder to arrive, I ride my Electra Glide - people can hear me by my stereo before they see me. Care to guess what the first major mod to my spyder will be....yeah, tunes are top of my list. Thanks again for the product info and update.

By the way I'll try and get Ron to ride his Spyder to Gatlinberg for the Spyder event and you can hear it there. You'll be able to checkout the risers too.

Any Idea what the model number or cost is??

Yoshi vs. Hindle

there's always this talk about 'road legal' pipes...however, it seems that nobody (mainly Harley riders) care a bit about this.

I'd like to 'upgrade' from the stock exhaust and am considering the Hindle...in my state, it apparently also passes inspection, so this is a good thing. There seems to be many exhausts popping up and I don't want to void my warranty or buy the 'wrong' one...

Can someone who's familiar with both (or more) compare these two for me...also, is there any configuration with the engine when you put a new exhaust on?

One more...do you get better mpg? I know there's a bit more hp, but I'd also think you get better mileage...

thanks...

As the offical BRP literature on the Hindle pipes says...

"this system is for off road or competition use only"

Because the Spyder came with a converter in the front of the stock pipe for this machine to meat the EPA regulations for 2008 "on road" use. Technically, any system that does not contain an EPA approved converter in it to meet these standards should not be used on the road.

So, as far as we know no aftermarket exhaust system is technically "road legal" as none have the required converter in them.

As for warranty issues.

A factory has to be able to prove how an aftermarket product directly caused the condition that they are trying not to cover. Simply having a part on a bike, any part is not legal grounds to deny a warranty claim. There have been countless court cases backing this up over and over again.

Next there is nothing so dramatically different in any of these systems that one would make your motor have a problem and one won't. Be it a Hindle, Two Bros, Micron, Yoshi, Motad, almost all of these system have similar construction inside. Slight differences in the amount of packing one uses over another will make more or less sound, but they all are real close in design.

Also, all these companies have been making exhausts for a very long time and would not still be around if their systems killed peoples bikes.

The "stock" fuel map on the Spyder seems to be both "fat" enough and contain enough adjustability to be able to compensate for these systems no problem.

Hope this has helped you in your quest.

Great answer...

Thank you very much for your thoughtful reply...I was leaning toward the hindle since it's 'recommended' by Can-Am...

However, the Yoshi seems interesting as you can leave it loud, or put the insert in it to silence it a little.

I've read a bit about the 2 bros but that one seems like it may be too loud...

I'm guessing that installation and switching the exhausts is not too difficult to do...meaning, if the bike goes for emissions test (my state does it every 2 years) and it fails, I could always put the original one back on just for the test again?

Which one do you use?

Oh yeah...do you get better mileage with these exhausts? I see the horsepower goes up...I'd figure the engine would have less congestion, thus making it more efficient...am I wrong with this thought?

Thanks again...

You may also need to remove the battery leads and reset the computer if you have to reinstall the stock exhaust and drive it around for a while.

Fuel mileage? I can't say I or anyone else knows for sure. :dontknow:

The Spyder is geared so low that I am not sure if the pipe will make any real change in mileage good or bad? With the same "stock fuel map" being used in the computer it might not make much at all.

Although the more open pipe helps the engine breathe better, I still think the "short legs" a Spyder has is the limiting factor in it's fuel mileage more than any other.

I made the first NMN pipe back in Jan for my Spyder and it has been on my bike since it had 8 miles on it. So, I never did a before and after fuel mileage test myself.

Maybe someone else who rode the stock exhaust for awhile then switched might have a better answer for you.

I think the mileage is about the same with either the stock or the aftermarket pipe. I averaged about 30 with my stock exhaust and I average about 30 with the Hindle. There are other benefits to an aftermarket pipe that are easily noticeable like better throttle response and a cooler running engine.

Thats what I have on my Spyder and did not even realize it had a baffle that can be removed. Wow, huge sound difference.

Whats the fitment and dimension of the Yoshi Elbow...does the inlet need an gasket and whats the outer diameter of the exit..still for 2 1/4 exhausts?

There is no such thing as a "Yoshi elbow". :dontknow:

Yosimura does not make anything but muffler cans that can be used on a Spyder, with no collector elbow being offered by them at this point in time.

There is a Street Magic 90 Degree Polished Stainless Steel Elbow made to work with "spring type mufflers" like the Yosimura system. It has the same 2 1/4 inch outlet as our "clamp type" exhaust elbow does

The inlets of both styles of Street Magic 90 Degree Polished Stainless Steel Elbows "spring type", or "clamp type" are designed to use the stock collector gasket in the inlet.

AHHhhhh...ok, from your website, the elbow above the yoshi looked so different I thought it was from yoshi...so it's still 2 1/4 on both and the "spring type" has the spring hook loops welded on. You should put a few of the original type on ebay today so I can buy one without using the phone for non-company business...hint hint...nudge nudge...Pay-pal...

OK...remember...ebay...pay-pal...put a couple on their in case someone else sees it before I can use the puter at break time.
