• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I remember seeing one for $1500 a long while back, you might keep a lookout for one from a crashed spyder, while yours is still running good, if you can find a low mileage one, there should be a few out there somewhere.

Somewhere in here I thought I saw where somebody mentioned that a crate motor will set you back about $8400...
I hope that I'm wrong!

thanks
i guess i'll cross this bridge when it becomes necessary.

i guess i could just buy another spyder when this one dies.

it sure has been a lot of fun so far.

always better with new 1 they have worked out a lot of bugs i wanted one when they first came out but waited till this year

Why do you feel you need a new motor? You can have the original rebuilt for much less.

For a few dollars more you could buy a new to you 2008 Spyder with less than 10,000 miles and be way ahead of the game.

I had a Rotax engine replaced in a SeaDoo jet ski for $7400. It was a factory rebuilt, whatever that means. Then it was replaced again because it burned a quart of oil per hour, Then it was repaced again, I forget why. By this time I am a year into it and had loss all interest in Rotax engines. During this time they were busy ruining my Spyder engine also. I gave the entire jet ski to my landscaper and he redid my front yard. I understand it is still running which is surprising. I sold the Spyder.

Bottomline an engine swap is a risky and expensive thing especially if done by a dealer. If you have 72,000 miles out of one of these you have received good value and maybe it is time to retire the poor baby. They continue to make new and presumably better Spyders.
