• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

black lens covers!

OK, I know we all want to be more easily seen, but I really am a big fan of getting as much blacked out on PE#2929 as possible. Hey, some folks love flames and skulls on their rides...

I used a metal blade to cut down my dark smoke F1 shield so that it's somewhere between the stock shield height and the original F1 height, then I added the dark smoke lens covers from Pioneer Motorsports in NY. I could argue that they protect the expensive-to-replace headlights, but unlike all my other little modifications (3" risers, highway pegs, mirror extensions, seat cover, windshield, luggage, etc) this one is the least practical and really just cosmetic. They come off in a second if I need to worry about a town/state where the LEO's are anxious about statutes regulating vehicle lighting...

Sorry for the terrible indoor cel phone shot, but I figgered I'd post it anyhoo.

(I'll try a better photo again when the sun comes up. Oh, yeah--and I'll have to get a nice close-up of those delightful black axle end caps, too!)

Next: bye bye silver panels...

Looking good bro. They just come in? Its been so long since you've talked about these that I forgot that you had ordered them. How is the cut down F1 working for you? Did you maintain Marcel's shape at the top of the windshield and rebend it? I took about 4 inches off my Evo II. I made a pattern of the original shape so I could duplicate it, 4 inches shorter.

Thanks, Brian.

I did order them in July, actually, they came tonight; since it wasn't a ride-changing modification, I kept telling Chad at Pioneer, "No rush..."

Actually, I traced the top contour of the old stock shield, then it had to be "freestyle" splined to try to maintain a decent shape.

As far as the lip, yes, I want to "tweak" it a bit.

That was good foresight.

I know I'm not done "sculpting" the shield yet, I keep going at it with the grinder. As long as I stop before I make it smaller than the stock shield :yikes: , I won't feel too foolish!
