• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How can you answer a phone on RT LTD?

No offense taken here, Harry, I just knew it was not what you meant to type and sometimes spell checker just don't check for what we intended to say if the words are still valid ;)

Cant tell you how many times I have called someone named "Brian" - "Brain" - or some other more interesting things. :banghead: And when we re-read it, our minds fill in the blanks so we never do see what we typed!

The installation instructions that come with the Bluetooth adapter are incorrectly printed. So your dealer may have not installed the adapter correctly. When you follow the directions, which is backwards, it activates the mic on the front of the GPS instead of the headset mic and all someone can here is wind noise. The dealer can get the new installation instructions from BRP. Just a thought.

Thanks Stevefive you get the winning ticket.

I just started my spyder, plugged in the helmet and moved as far away from the spyder as I could. Dialed the wife's cell while she was in the drive way. Spoke into the helmet mic and she heard nothing.

Kept the helmet away from the spyder and spoke softly at the GPS unit (Normally I shout profanities at it) and she heard me, so look like the harness is wired to the GPS mic not the headset.

thank you, thank you and thank you, I thought I was going nuts. I emailed my dealer today(their closed on Mondays) so they can get the new instruction when I take it in for service.

Do think this should be its own post so it can be searched for and warn others?

The picture on the installation instructions shows the upper CB module plug, which is correct, but the instructions state to plug the adapter into the lower CB module, AND just to mess with your mind, the instructions have pics of the left side of the bike, but the instructions state to do the install work on the right side.

There is no one or nothing important enough to require my use of a phone, CB, or intercom on a bike. All are unneeded distractions - nor, do I want to hear the GPS, see it, if I want, yes. My phone is properly turned off and locked away while riding. Should I need to use it, pull over, turn off the bike, get off the bike, use the phone, turn it off, lock it away, and return to riding. Perhaps a few tunes from my iPod, during a boring stretch of superslab…..

We all complain about cage drivers and phones - but bikes and phones?? Choose one or the other, not both.
:agree: Bike no place for phone .

I have an interesting issue

I just got a new phone, a Samsung Galaxy SII. It's a pretty new phone and it doesn't synch up properly with my Zumo 660.
The phone book and last dialed information don't come across from the phone to the GPS.

I made some custom POI using Mapsource that have the main contacts that I would normally need to call.

I like the idea of being able to take phone calls when I ride.
It's hands free, so it's really not distracting.

For those who disagree, simply don't do it.

ok I'm really being dumb here what typo? I looked and looked?

sorry if its offended anyone I don't see it

harry
Not offended at all. Just one of those funny typos. I find myself doing that on my iPhone when it does auto spell. Some like these can bring quite a laugh. I was in my office, and laughed out loud when I re-read it.

we have wireless scalarider com system and can answer and make phone calls on it just by pairing our smart phone to the com system...you only have to do it once and then it automaticely connects when you turn on the com system

Make sure that the interface will work,in your coffin, that where this type of riding will take sooner or latter.

Why? Hands free, very safe, not distracting the rider. I have been doing it on 2 wheels for well over 150K miles so far, and over 40 K miles on the spyders.

All phone calls distract the rider...but hands free calls do so much less than the other. Personally, I never connect the phone while riding...even though I have the capability. Riding is about the road...and freedom from the strings that bind us.

This isn't going to degenerate into a "helmet usage" kind of battle; is it?

The difference between this and helmet useage is that one you are accepting personal risk, and the other you are accepting risk for others around you. Nobody has the right to accept risk for me. Period. Someone already stated that "certain" people shouldn't be talking and driving... There is a level of distraction when talking on the phone, or even talking with someone in the car / on the bike with you... For some folks it is minor... I tend to focus on the road, and pay less attention to the conversation, sometimes to the point that I may annoy people I am talking with... Too bad for them! I'm busy! I've seen some people who place their conversations first, and driving secondary, and they are downright dangerous to everybody! This also includes conversations amonst passengers / drivers... there are some downright idiots on the road these days.

While I do take calls while in my car (handsfree), I refuse to enable myself to do the same on my spyder. We got that thing to "get away", and that is my intention. Anything of importance, there is voicemail, and I can check messages at each stop.

Listening to music is distracting too... so is chewing gum while riding... guess we should ban those things too...

Just be smart people. I like to know when I get a call, VM or text message... and if it's from someone I deem important... I'll pull over and see what's up. I generally don't talk while riding as I find it rude to the person on the other end. If they're important enough to talk to on the phone-- they deserve my complete attention.... so I pull over and call them back... but that's just me.

If you're running a GPS with bluetooth, you really have no need to run things through the spyder 'system'.. unless you want your phone calls and GPS blasted over the Spyder speakers.....

So does anybody have any fun trips planned for the fourth??
