• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

When the Dimmer Switch was on the floor

Thinks out loud
HID - I know nothing about the subject. However, a neighbor who rides a BMW GTL suggested I upgrade to HID. He made some very valid points, that were reiterations of words I've read here. He also suggested I check out what DDM Tuning has to offer. Well I did, but it's Sunday and they are closed so I'm looking for "YOUR INPUT".

Does the RT take dual or single filament? Would these do the trick? H9 - 55 watt version, in say 5000K. If so, the price sure seems right, compared to BRP's offering, even at their deeply discounted price. I'm sure I've left a lot out here.....but my knowledge of such things goes back to when "dimmer switches were on the floor".

The RT headlights take 65W HB3 (9005) single filament bulbs.

When did they take the dimmer switch off the floor? :joke:

Scotty, the owners manual says - Headlight 2 x 65 W halogen (type H9) - but, that's just a book :doorag:

What are your thoughts as far as going with 55 W. Wouldn't you be able to make up the difference by increasing the "K factor" ?

I don't know.........but, as I've said before - I don't mind being schooled either :)

I think about the time, they quit supping a crank to start the engine. Anybody old enought to remember/know about the "date/girl friend shift position on Ford Model A.s
Oldmanzues

Then came the starter on the floor and chrome glove boxes. Followed by under dash mounted 45 record players, all to go by the wayside for four track tapes and reverb units. We've come a long way baby!!

Are you sure you didn't look in an RS manual. That is what they have. The RT uses HB3 (9005) bulbs. I don't think the H9 bulbs would fit the connectors. They are straight and the HB3 is right angle. One of the site sponsors should be able to hook you up with a compatible HID system.

Sourced from 2012 RT manual page 160. Perhaps that's different than my 2011. That's why I'm asking questions...... :helpsmilie::opps: :yikes:

Well, here's what the parts fiche says...

Halogen Bulb HB3 65W

I can verify that this is what is fitted to my 2011. Believe what you wish, but your manual is wrong.

Trust me......I was on your side all along. Like I said in an earlier post.

:bdh: Do whatever you wish. The BRP parts fiche is the official parts source. If you are worried about it, pull your bulbs and take a peek. Mine are HB3 (9005) and yours likely are, too, but there is only one way to know. BTW, H9 bulbs are not 65W, they are only 55W.

Hardly beating a dead horse Scotty. I was just showing you that the "BOOK" is wrong. You're a guy who likes to get it right the first time........so am I. That's all.
