• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Replacing stock RT seat

After 3 hours in the saddle last weekend, I realized that I am going to have to upgrade the seat. Would the comfort seat be a good solution or should I look at some of the custom seats (Ultimate, KonTour, Russel Day long)? Your experiences are very helpful in my decision making process!

Lots of options.

Comfort seat is probably your least expensive option--about $500.

I have used Corbin--but they are a pretty hard feeling seat. I have it on my RTS because I like the gas tank access. I use a sheepskin or an airhawk to soften the seat for me now. Your cost for a Corbin with backrest is about $1000.

Not sure of the other brands as I have not experienced them.

It would be good if you could find a gathering of spyders to test sit the various options. It gets expensive to buy and try.

Russell Day-Long. A lot depends on what you need in a seat. Corbins are bricks to me, but fit many people very well. The stock seat is nice to me. Not much info available yet on the comfort seat for the RT, but it does move the rider back a couple of inches, and may not have much different padding :dontknow:. The Russell is custom made to your needs, and they will adjust it if need be. I had one on another bike, and never owned a better seat. In the interim, an AirHawk, beadrider, or sheepskin may help.

BETTER SEATS

The suggestion to try as many as possible is a good one....suggestion : plan on coming to Lamont's BBQ in Sept. there will be 100's of Spyder's there......I'm sure all types of seats will be represented....and I'm sure you can get to sit on them all....Spyderlover's are Great People......Mike......

Where is the BBQ located??

I ordered the Ultimate w/gas cap and 2" extension while at SpyderFest. Unfortunately, I'm in a holding pattern until it is produced. Will post more when I get it. I ordered the Ultimate because my wife is VERY happy with hers on her GS. And, their good folks.

What Mark sez is quite valid. What are the complaints?
