• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

When you reach the age for tricare for life, there isn't a monthly premium, correct? But, in order to qualify for TFL you must have medicare parts A &B, correct? And, medicare part B costs $100/month for most.

So, if the above is correct, you go from paying @$20/month for tricare prime to paying @$100/month to stay in tricare, correct?

Not complaining; I'm just trying to see if I have this all correct.

I would say, you should contact DFAS about this. A lot of information is not in the post. Such as Retired Vet, medical retirement and so.
You might also contact the Service Offier at local VFW, American Legon posts and so. If you are close to a VA Hospitial, go the service Officier there.
I also have a Service Combat related disability, so that comes into play.
Good Luck.

You should recieve a TriCare mailing every now and then and Call your AREA Phone # for specific Questions???

I am not sure about New York, but in California there is an agency that answers questions about Medicare and that is what you are now being enrolled in.
If there is an Area Agency on Aging, they would also be able to give you the correct info.

Tricare for Life

Do a search for tricare for life. Pick the web site that is near the top that is a .mil. That should take you to the official Tricare Web Site. Tricare for life is a second payer after Medicare.

I have been on Medicare almost 5 years, and I never see a bill, just EOBs. Of course, I made sure my doctor took my insurance and Tricare way back when, a dozen years ago, when I was a Letter Carrier and had FEHBP.

You need both Parts A and B of Medicare to qualify for Tricare for life. I don't know of many people who would opt out of Part B, that's the part they deduct for.

It is better than I first retired, back then, we were going to be kicked out of the military health care system when we reached 65. It took a few lawsuits to change that.

Your pharmacy benefits under Tricare allow you to forgo Part D. I live close to Patrick AFB, so I get my meds at the pharmacy, also, Walmart and most drug store chains are involved with the Tricare Pharmacy program.

My wife is on TFL because she is drawing SS disability and is on Medicare. She nor I are paying for TFL. I am on Prime for which I pay, I'm 62. Check out www.tricare.mil. You can also sign up at www.tricare.mil/subscriptions for e mail updates. You can access [email protected] which is the Armed Forces Press Service. Your service retiree web site etc. I have several that I subscribe to on line to keep up with what's going on. Keep in mind, when you reach 65 you do need to get a new ID. Hope this helps.
