• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyder Lift Question

Jeriatric

Thinks out loud
Would like to have a scissor lift (air, hydraulic, or one that hand cranks) not sure if anyone even offers such an animal? I plan on doing 90% of my own work but, ground level and I don't get along to well anymore. It's hard to get there, and even harder to get up. Won't bother you with the details, lets just say the older, old injuries get, the bigger the price we pay. I'm sure many of you know the drill. :roflblack: Ain't life grand :ohyea:

Edit: found one - http://www.eagleequip.com/product/ML-1300-T.html

There has to be more than one company that makes them.

That lift is for a traditional trike with the dual wheels in the rear. Get a regular 1200# - 1500# lift and modify it to work with your Spyder.

This is a H/F air lift with extension wings that I widened another 8" to handle my '09. I don't think H/F sells them anymore tho....:dontknow:

Glad I found this posting

I just got my spyder and have a BMW K1200 LT and have always done my work. I also have a handy lift with side extensions but not wide enough fir the spyder. I was going to sell if but I never thought of just getting longer poles and moving the extensions out as in the pic! Great Idea. Now where do I get these pipes?
Thanks
This forum is absolutely indispensable!!

I found a pair of 48" L X 1" Dia. black iron pre-cut, pre-threaded lengths at the local ACE Hdwr. store. Just measure the dia. of the pipes you have in there now and duplicate them, also measure the front wheel width of your machine....I would 'spect it's the same as mine but not positive.

And some 1" pipe caps for the ends of the replacement rods.

I did measure my LTD and it looks as though the pipe length will need to be about 63 inches to allow for clips on the end.

I shouldda measured....my pipes are 60", not 48"....sorry!

The tires are just about on the edge of the extensions, but it works fine that way. You will have to buy much longer sections of pipe to end up with 63", it would be a lot easier for you if 60" lengths would work.

home depot

they have a whole variety of steel pipe, and cut and thread for free.

I have a Pro Lift drop tail XLT. Had it before Flamingbabe got her Spyder.
The extention rails are not wide enough for the Spyder...... So I holesawed another set of holes in the drop section, got longer pipes, and welded up some slip on floorplates for the Spyder's front wheels.
Back the spyder onto the lift. built a stop for the rear wheel and it puts the front tires in the middle of the platforms. Lets ya work up next to the bike!!!!!

FB is working to size some pics, and she will post them.
