There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Hello everyone just recently bought a 2010 Spyder Rt-s with my fiance and was wondering about communication between the two of us.
I was either looking at the Can am communication system, or the ChatterBox X1 Slim. We already have the GPS and CB built in, but we do not
have the can am helmets nor do i want to buy them. I was wondering if you can still install the system in our Helmets " HJC CL-16 " or if the best thing would be to get
the ChatterBox system. One thing i really want to use is the PTT button on the handle bar, and want to know if that is usable with the ChatterBox system or, any other Bluetooth systems.
We would like to get everyones opinion on this, or if you know of a better system that we could still use the PTT button and or the built in system on the Spyder, that would be great....

Thanks for all the help.

To my knowledge, the PTT will only worked with a wired system. So your options are to buy the BRP headsets or the J&M headsets. Either will work with your helmets.

Can AM Communication System

Our RT-S came with the CB, intercom system, and Can AM helmets with the headsets installed. Took the headsets out and installed them in the Fulmer M1 modular helmets. Have had problems with the speakers in the headsets. My wife's left speaker has never worked and my speakers work intermittently. Also, have wind noise in the mic when I activate the CB or answer a phone call. Considering purchasing a J and M headset for our helmets. Need to decide which model.

My original BRP headsets had the same problem but were replaced under warranty and work great without a problem. The problem was the connection where the mic boom sets into the helmet cradle which connects up to the speakers.

We use the Scorpion EXO-100 helmets with their own sets of BRP headsets for short hot trips. We use the BRP ST-1 helmets 90% of the time. I also drilled out the vent holes and that has helped with the heat. Just FYI.

J&m headset

With the J&M head sets what would you need to buy to set up the Spyder? Is there a special wire you need to buy to connect the system?
And finally what system of J&M's do you guys think is the best bang for the buck.
I want to be able to awnser phone calls, talk to my fiancé with the ptt, use the Cb and
hear the gps.
Thanks again for all the help

I have a Autocom Superpro, which is wired directly to our helmets and is automatically activated when speaking, if your listening to music it mutes 50% then resumes once your conversation is finished. If you go down this path I'm happy to show my install.

Lewin.
You do not talk to the passenger with the PTT. It is used for CB transmission. Rder-to-passenger communications are automatic, via the VOX feature of most comm systems.

Buy the best j and m you can afford. I have ridden 16 yrs with j& m. I did take one detour to Nolan Ecom Bluetooth . Worst decision of my life and terrible service/Warrenty.

The new J&M with aero mike and larger speakers is terrific. Only other thing needed is the cable fro the helmet to the bike. Call or email J&M and you will get immediate response and answers and part numbers from the M in J and M

With the J&M, do you need to buy the kit and an adapter?
For the passenger, where dose the wire connect and do I need two headsets
and two adapters ?

Thanks again.

There are at least three different headsets available for your helmet, full face, open face or modular, and two different price ranges. All the headsets should come with the upper cord, the only thing you will need to change if you ever change bike brands is the lower cord . Not sure on the number for the lower cord but the Spyder and Victory Vision use the same cord. Try J&Mcorp.com for the correct numbers and headsets. Also lower cords are headset specific.

There seems to be some serious confusion here...at least on my part. If you have the BRP Comm System, you will need to add headsets if you have none. If you do not have the comm system, any other system you buy should come with the appropriate headsets. You can't just buy headsets alone and communicate.
