• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What is the origin of the term "cagers"?

Up until the 14th of April I hadn't been on a bike in 34 years and until I bought the RT Limited and found this site I never heard the term "cagers". I surmise it refers to 4 wheel vehicles on the road. Is it an acronym for something, or just a single word?

This site is where I also saw for the first time the term "cagers". I guess it refers to 4 wheel vehicles completely enclosing the driver. Kind of the opposite of an open air ride.

Cager.....a popular word among motorcyclists and bicyclists for four wheeled motor vehicle drivers. The term is often used in a derogative sense, because the car body effectively forms a cage, isolating the said driver from having to interact with other road users. The term was coined by motorcyclists.

I do not believe it is an acronym, simply an affectionate "name" given to the drivers of an automobile?

Cage - A car, truck, or van. The sworn enemy of motorcyclists, more commonly known as automobiles. The name stems from being all cooped up inside a closed shell, with no contact with the outside air.
Cager - A person driving a car, truck, or van. Cage operator, or driver.

these are the definitions from totalmotorcycle.com. I figure it's about those who can have roll cages in and around them.

very well put....just an automobile...

A cage is a place to keep animal. You know the cell phone monkey, the texting turtle, the distracted dodo bird etc
