• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

OOH... Finally, something in Florida. I may have to look into this. The only issue for me is that I'll have to drive to clearwater from Ft. Lauderdale area and back again.

No problem Napalmseth, next time will start from Ft. Lauderdale :2thumbs:
Enjoy the game

Good Job Doc. I would love to take a ride around all the Great Lakes. I'll bet there must be a ride for that somewhere and it is bound to be over 1000. I would love to try it in my new seat.

Our associate Pastor laid out a Great Lakes ride that fit the Ironbutt criteria. Has us leaving the church parking lot at midnight so we pass through Chicago very early in the morning to, hopefully, avoid traffic. Continues through Wisconsin and into the U.P. then back to the church via the Mackinaw Bridge. We'll see if this pans out this summer. :2thumbs:

You might be interested in the book Motorcycling Across Michigan by William Murphy. Has loops of each Great Lake. He also has written Motorcycling Across Indiana and Motorcycling Across Ohio. Nice trips, roads specified and described, as well as some of the attractions. Also the mileage. Don't remember if any qualify for Iron Butt status, but the could easily be extended or combined, plus you have to ride there and back to get to his routes. Beats dreaming them up for yourself. I have met the author at a book signing, and he is a great guy, too.

Doc. Would you mind re-posting the trip details or PM me? I have a small group that would like to ttempt this soon. I figured why reinvent the wheel if one of our own has alreay invented it.

Thanks

We did something like this in April 2000
We called it the Florida Perimeter Ride.
We started in Sarasota, went to Naples, then Miami, the Jax, then Penscacola and back to Talahassee the first day (1100miles) the another 500 back to Sarasota the next day (we back roaded day 2)
I did not send it off to Iron Butt but I had plaques made for each rider (3)
It' is on my "wall of shame" in my office.

hay Doc

when you did this ride did you have PANTS and leathers on or just LEATHERS AND BOXERS :roflblack: :roflblack: :roflblack: :roflblack: YOU ARE ONE COOL DUDE

-solo can be done in 15-17 hours
-for every 2 riders in your group add 1 hour
-keep all your gas receipts; the first in the last one are the most important
-have a pen+small notebook handy to write the name and reason of the stop and mileage on the odometer
-for the first and last 2 tanks, rest stop after 70 miles; in the middle part, stop only for gas
-best time of the week (traffic wise): start 4 AM on a Sunday
-gas potential problems: between Perry and Old Town (gas stations closed after 10 PM, do not accept CC only check card) and Alligator Alley (only gas station is on Snake Road with poor quality gas).
