• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. AAA membership for Spyder

Spyder Couple

New member
Looking for info on AAA membership. Do you have it? Do you like it for your Spyder? Have you ever had to use it for your Spyder ?
Were you happy with it? ;)
We are looking at putting alot of miles on our 2011 Spyder RT-s this year with several trip we are doing and was wondering if
AAA was worth the money. We are looking at the AAA Plus for $107 for the first year. Renewal is $97 per year.

Thank you

AAA+ covers motorcycles and motorhomes. They didn't even require me to list any info. Good for me since I have six bikes registered in my name.

we went to GOOD SAM club this year we have had rv coverage from caa and are trying GOOD SAM this year they cover motorcycles and are a lot cheaper and I dont think there is a limit on towing to nearest repair facility. As well spouse is covered for no extra fee

i have them and used them to jumpstart my 2010 Spyder a couple of times when I had early on electrical problems, then in Nov 2011 when my Spyder was totalled compliment s of a trailer truck, AAA towed it to a lot that night and then on to the nearest dealer as part of their continuation service when the dealer opened... Sure there may be cheaper but they did right by me - and their truck was there 45 minutes after the accident out in the middle of the boonnies...

AAA

I have AAA and have been with them for about 35 yrs they cover my house, rental home, travel trailer, truck, car, jeep ,commuter car, cargo trailer and bass boat I have never had a problem with the but I have never had a claim either. So after selling my Harley and buying my RT they wanted $836.00 per yr for :spyder2:only.:yikes: So I called Alstate and they cover the:spyder2:same coverage for $236.00 so AAA has all my stuff except my:spyder2:Buy the way AAA charged me $780.00 per yr for my harley.

AAA in California seem to HATE motorcyles. I don't suggest using them for the Spyder. Just my two cents. I have Pacific Specialty (McGraw). I heard Gieco is pretty good.

aaa for towing?

Rescue plus is what we use with gold wing and spyder to and get more miles for towing also. look in to it well worht it

I have AAA for towing and you need to get the motorcycle/RV coverage. I upped my coverage to the premiere which provides one 200 mile tow and 3 additional 100 mile tows . I used them twice for tows and theft send a flat bed, & once I ran out of gas in the middle of nowhere in Texas on Easter morning and they came thru. So for me iTMS a no brainier. Also the insurance coverage they stepped up and paid my claim even though the other parties insurance was responsible.

In Canada I have CAA PLUS and it covers spyders even when travelling in the USA I am covered ,so if you travel to Canada you should be covered too.

AAA, in Flarda for motorcycles, only provides tow coverage. They "farm out" the actual liability and damage coverage to Progressive. On an additional note, I highly recommend that you get uninsured motorist coverage for your spyder.

For those of you who don't know what uninsured motorist coverage is - it is really uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage.. this coverage will pay your medical bills or even awards for pain & suffering or wrongful death if the other at fault driver had no insurance or not enough (since the required bodily injury coverage is very low in many states - the other driver can be carrying what he perceives to be so called "full coverage" but it turns out to be not enough to pay for One ER visit and one night in the hospital - no where close to what real expenses can be... some folks say my health ins will pay - sure they will for medical bills only - no for pain and suffering, loss wages, or wrongful death... EVERYONE agrees you should carry this coverage right after they have the first not at fault accident with someone carrying inadequate insurance - which is almost everyone...... No I do not sell insurance. I have just seen too many people learn this the hard way

I have AAA+ and have for years I haven't used it with my spyder but Ibought a Jeep one time that had after market tires on it and the jeep did not have the correct Jack that would go high enough to lift it. I called AAA and they came out and changed it no charge. I also have had numerous vehicles with keys locked in ( see 2 daughters) and they would send someone no problem. I really like them and will keep them.

My agent sent me to Foremost ( they handle them too) and they ( formost ) are the ones taking care of my bike accident and the other company and doing it really well!!

Another important AAA feature

AAA provides coverage for any bike you happen to be riding, not just the membership vehicle. I've had the Spyder covered since purchase, but never needed to use it. However, was out on a friend's Honda Shadow a couple of weeks ago and the battery died in the middle of freakin' nowhere. Fortunately, there was a cell phone tower within range. Called AAA and had a truck there 30 minutes later. Jumped the battery and home I rode. Don't know about other states, but in Florida to have the AAA motorcycle coverage you must also have an automobile policy.

Just FYI to your question.Living in Ontario Canada. My husband and I went through a situation where we had to have :f_spider: towed , B.E.S.T only covering the first $200.00 and we had to pay the difference of $375.00. Our dealer:thumbup: gave us a portion of our cost in a gift certificate. If we had the CAA PLUS it would have only cost us $140.00 . We now have CAA PLUS:yes:

For the extra money CAA PLUS is the way to go. I have CAA PLUS and the RV coverage for any trailer that I tow.

AAA have different policy for different states but I think for most part, even if you have premium membership, towing distance for bikes are 100 miles and Nevada AAA don't cover bikes and wanted me to pay out of pocket and get reimbursed from cal AAA but few calls back and forth with both aaa and I didn't have to both times aaa was used in Nevada.

I am very happy aaa and will not leave home without it. :) just don't call them if you lock your key in frunk... Keys locked in trunk of motorcycle is not covered...
