There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Fully Adjustable Windshield Now Available!!

Hate to throw water on this, but since the company is Canadian, will the replacement shield be DOT approved and labeled, so it is legal in the US?

I think the Spyder is made in Canada too.:D
I wouldn't let that keep you from buying one.

Not the Canadian issue. I am all for it. Just a bit reluctant to put on an illegal windshield. All US ones are required to be DOT approved, and labeled as such, to be sold here. The Spyder standard windshields are not labeled, BTW, so I am not sure how they actually received permission to sell Spyders here. Probably an oversight. Don't know that DOT standards are any better than none at all, but at least they have a target. Wouldn't likely stop me from buying if I liked the product enough (bought a Spyder), but it I have seen it cause issues before, like recalls and such. Curiosity more than anything else. Actually, I wish the Thibault stuff was more readily avalable and distributed here. I want some of those Givi bag mounts. :)

Their Spyder products are being distributed in the states through Industries7. Although I'm not familiar with them, they apparently distribute products wholesale so they don't have a web site. It should be up soon. Several Spyder owners have ordered from them with good success.

Email address is: [email protected] or, [email protected]

Or, call Shawn- 1-866-764-9897 toll free.

I have the the GIVI mounts and the V35n Bags. Works great and looks good.

Scotty,
Do you know if this applies to motorcycle windscreens? I cant remember seeing anything on previous aftermarket shields, but then again I wasnt looking. Perhaps the material its made from has something to do with it. Applies to glass only? Maybe its considered a fairing and not applicable to these restrictions (since you look over not through. ?????
Just a thought.

This is very close to something I'd by. I agree they need to offer a mirror/chromed solution. I despise most Spyder windshields but this one I could do! The price is a bit high IMO but the lack of an ascetically pleasing alternative dictates a higher market value, I suppose.

Watching anxiously...

Easy code to remember:

ALL Windshield Material must meet the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Standard (FMVSS) and the "Safety Code" ANSI Z26.1 together with the DOT-DOC.
If not, great new for you later!
Regards
Marcel

OK, So I lied. The Spyder windshield is labeled, in tiny letters on the lower left side. Couldn't see them under garage lights, had to get it in the sun.

I know there are some that are not marked. Doubt they are diligent in enforcing it. Don't know if anybody but the manufacturer could get in trouble, anyway. It does mean they meet a certain standard, however.

I do believe it applies. All the aftermarket shields I have had were labeled, even on my fairings. They were all plastic. I think this has applied for years. Honda removed the windscreens from the CB92 model in the US back in 1961, due to Federal intervention. The replacement part was listed in non-US parts books, but the windshield couldn't be purchased or shipped here.

I don't know if I could contain myself if a cop said to me" Sir, it looks like your windshield is not DOT approved'" I know I would get locked up for the certain smart ass comments that would immediately flow from my lips. Besides pretty sure the pipe I intend on getting will get me in more trouble than the windshield..it's not DOT approved either, that's why when its sold it says "FOR OFFROAD USE ONLY".

I agree Scott. Always wondered how loosely the pipe and noise restrictions are enforced especially if they are setting off car alarms like on utube. It would be my luck I would spend a bunch of money on mods and get stopped for one and have my entire vehicle impounded. I am pretty well politically connected here in Denver but explaining myself to a judge might be a hard task. I think the police have bigger fish to fry.... like people carrying around concealed weapons. Oh wait, I have one of those in the trunk of my Spyder too....shhhhhhh....hope it doesnt leak...guess I had better check for the silicone!!!

Seeing some of the shields that are approved I don't think their standards are very high anyway.:spyder:

I'm glad everyone likes the windsheild, to dampen concerns about DOT, I spoke with Washington yesterday. This windsheild will be DOT approved.
They can be ordered @ [email protected]

or call (866)764-9897

TX
Wonderful, thanks so much! Nice to see that someone finally figured we have to bring the shield back closer to the rider. Like the double curvature, side-to-side, and front-to-back.

I was just wondering,
so far you do not have a DOT on the Windshields you sell?
:banghead:
What happens if something happens to my Windshield?
What do I have to do, if I have to go trough a State Inspection (NJ or AZ).
In our State the inspections are very tight and I don't
want to get a ticket.
I don't understand why some manufacturer of aftermarket products still try to sell there stuff without
letting us know they are not DOT aproved.
I for sure do not use those products because
of safety reasons.
