• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

As some of you know, I have been tearing down my Spyder for powder coating and have a nice bit of information to share with you that I have found during this adventure. I hit a bit of a road block with the rear wheel and getting the spanner nut out. Found the thread that Firefly posted about the special tool from BRP that gets it out and was not paying that much for it. Was going to rig something up instead. BUT, I worked at my local bicycle shop for six years and in looking at the spanner nut thought of a tool that I used quite frequently to remove freewheels on bikes AND IT WORKS!! I see in the post by Firefly that BRP's tool costs $50. Well, I am glad to tell my fellow Spyder Lovers that you can get this for about $9!!! It is a Park Tool FR-6 Freewheel Remover. Luckily, I had it on hand in my garage with my other bike tools.

Great find.... but where were you last year ! ;)
 
Made one with a Sears 27mm 1/2" drive socket. Fit inside the nut perfect.
Drilled and tapped the socket for two 4mm allen head screws, 180 degrees from each other, close to the
drive end of the socket. Put socket inside the nut backwards, used 3/8"-1/2" adapter and a 3/8" ratchet.
Cost; 0 dollars. Had the socket already for taking the filter cartridge off my car.

I am getting a kick out of the fact that the ebay seller has no clue that they are selling so many that are actually going to be used on Spyder's! :roflblack::roflblack:
 
What other tool do you need to change your wheel bearings (3) yourself. I have watched both Rear Tire Change Video,s a few times
but I wish there was one on just changing the bearings? If I do it myself this summer I,ll patch a Video together.:yikes:

I watched a few Video,s of general Bike bearing changes so that helps.

Thats true. I still have my hook up at my local bike shop I worked at so I am all set LOL.

Can't help ya on that one. My buddy that is doing my powder coating works at a motorcycle shop and he is removing and putting new ones I ordered back in.

Got mine too. It appears you just turn the top of it Counterclockwise with an adjustable wrench to remove the part?

Yup, regular thread. Mine took my brothers cordless impact drill with impact socket to get it off. No way was it coming off with an adjustable wrench.
